Promotion balancing
Due to the new tool tips (thank you for that) I can now see what the promotion actually does. This means I could do the math and the math is as follows:

Poster gives 150 fans for $100 - each fan costs $0.67
Billboard gives 240 fans for $500 - each fan costs $2
Blimp gives 360 fans for $2000 - each fan costs $5.5
CD Giveaway 1 gives 120 fans for $850 - each fan costs $7
CD Giveaway 1 gives 180 fans for $1000 - each fan costs $5.5
Facebible gives 390 fans for $4000 - each fan costs $10
Instaframe gives 540 fans for $6000 - each fan costs $11
T-shirt giveaway gives 210 fans for $2000 - each fan costs $9.5
Twietter gives 450 fans for $5000 - each fan costs $11
Website gives 600 fans for $10000 - each fan costs $16.67

In other words, the general rule of thumb is that the less you pay the higher your return. Is this really intentional? It seems like you're rewarding the boring choices.

It is to force the player to pay more if they wish to stack more promotions on top of the lower cost ones. That way players with low income can afford lower promotions early on. Increasing the higher tier promotions would make the end game very easy too.

The CD's are a bit of a misbalance though.

So it's a diminishing returns kind of thing? Well, that makes sense, I guess.

As an actual suggestion I would suggest replacing the current mechanic where you buy bulk promotion packages. I don't think it makes sense that a website is something you pay a fixed cost for and then you have it for 30 days and then you need to pay the fixed cost again. I think the web site should have an upstart cost and a maintenance cost, where the maintenance cost is handled like salaries. This not only makes more sense, it also reduces micromanagement since you don't need to keep track of when it's time to buy a new website.

This also introduces the possibility of upgrading your promotions. This way you can start out with a plain teal and pink HTML web site that is dirt cheap but doesn't do all that much to promote you and slowly work yourself up to something great looking with its own forum. As a fun bonus, having your own forum could lead to new events.

Besides the web site I think the other things should be handled with a plain promotion budget slider - possibly with a single upstart cost because you need to establish business relations or whatever. How efficient your promotion is depends on how much resources you're spending and how many fans you have (more fans => more shares, more shares => more new fans).

Last, I think it should be possible for the band members to spend time promoting the band - this should boost the current promotion by a factor (because if you're more famous you reach more people and more people want to interview you and so on).

That is a great bit of suggestions actually. I like your idea of upgrading and maintaining a website. Perhaps you can purchase it and get it up and running for relatively cheap but as you said, upgrading it would bring in more fans.

The character action "Busking" does promote your band. You gain fans from the action. A friend recently pointed out that it isn't all that obvious that you gain fan or the amount of cash from actions. This hopefully will be improved in the next update to show you more exact numbers.

The slider idea isn't a bad idea but it doesn't over simplify the process of promoting a band. One of the reasons we do allow you to select specific promotions is for the immersion factor and ability to micromanage. If you take away/simplify too much of the game, it really does take away from the experience (in this particular case).

I don't want to sound like I'm shooting your ideas so don't take it like that. haha I love the idea of upgrading various promotional upgrades.

Don't worry, I don't take it like that. I'm glad you liked the idea with the web site, and I understand your objections to the other parts.

And keep doing a good job. :)
