Incorporate minigames where the club challenge scenarios are and throw in some minimal narration from the characters in between rounds. Not only would this cut down a large amount of the filler text that makes the story a slog to get through, it would make the player feel much more involved with the story; I'm actually surprised they didn't do this from the beginning.
