Report a translation problem
The word itself, 奉 "hou", means offering or dedication. The author, Ryukishi07, explained the meaning in an interview[kai-you.net] (Japanese), as being "in the sense that it is dedicated to the fans and gods" (translation from the English 07th Expansion wiki[07th-expansion.fandom.com]).
Higurashi may never truly be finished, as Ryukishi07 doesn't seem to want it to be. The question and answer arcs were finished, yes, but there have been many additional arcs exploring alternative scenarios, mostly on console releases.
A
