Screen clipped on left and right side, so I can't get past the first few minutes of the game
I just bought this game and can't get past the second Junkie part with the TV as I realised the screen is being clipped out of view on the left and right side and it's just black there.

I also noticed the game didn't select the correct 1920x1080 resolution when first run. Changing screen resolution and windowed mode doesn't seem to fix the vertical blacks bars either side of the screen.

It's unplayable currently for me.

WIn7 64bit latest updates. GTX1080 latest drivers. 2x monitors running at 1920x1080 each.

That's a first! Can you try to launch the game with only one monitor and tell me if that fixes it?

Also, can you send me the log file located in <game_folder>/znt_Data/output_log.txt

Will try with a single monitor later but here is the log for now:

I don't see anything in the logs that can explain, aside from the multi-screen issue, it could also a configuration problem.

You might want to try updating your graphic drivers.
wbk 19 May, 2017 @ 8:20am
I have the latest nvidia drivers that updated this past week. Turning off my second screen doesn't seem to fix it. I have tried some other Unity based games and they don't seem to have the same problem.

Can you send me a screenshot to see what it looks like.

Also, can you try to verify the game files from the properties menu of steam.
wbk 19 May, 2017 @ 8:50am
Actually I got an error '1 file failed to validate and will be reacquired'. I tried that a few times and even uninstalling the game and reinstalling and still the same problem - the verification error and black bar framing persists. I've never had such a problem before and all my other games seem fine.

Ok, it looks like the resolution is not set correctly.

You can try to change it in the settings menu, if you can see the settings button. Or you can delete the Settings.set in a sub-folder of %userprofile%\appdata\locallow\NoClip\Zombie Night Terror\

Don't worry about the files that needs to be reacquired in loop, it's not a problem.
wbk 19 May, 2017 @ 8:52pm
As I said in my first post the game selected the wrong resolution on startup, and I did change it to 1920x1080 in the settings menu. It didn't fix the problem even after restarting.

The settings file is as follows:

"$type": "GameSettings, Assembly-CSharp",
"Language": "English",

"ActivePause": true,
"DisallowMultipleBlockerMenu": true,

Have you tried selecting another resolution in the list.

It's a long shot, but I would try running with the least amount of programs in parallel. Close anything that could interfere with the game, an antivirus, anything that add overlay (teamspeak, mumble, etc.). You can also try to disable the Steam Overlay.

By running the game with the bare minimum, we can rule out external interference if that doesn't fix it. But make sure there is nothing dispensable running.

The simplest solution might be to try with an fresh windows account.
wbk 20 May, 2017 @ 3:22am
I don't have anything else running that would cause this kind of problem.

But OK I can get it to work in 1280x768 which isn't a complete disaster and it's playable, fun and visually ok because of the art style. Not ideal of course!

I've noticed that when I try different resolutions in Windowed mode it really thinks it's chosen a portrait not landscape resolution - as in the actual window frame is sized to a portrait scale not a landscape one.

Something I've thought of is both of my screens can rotate to portrait mode which is why in the resolution options I have some portrait resolutions showing I guess (selecting those doesn't help). That's probably not a common configuration to come across and maybe that's confusing the games aspect ratio and screen mode selection in some way?

Maybe, I don't really know at this point. There is a reason for that, but it's very hard to resolve that kind of issues without physical access to the PC.

So my best is there is a screen configuration somewhere that result in this problem, but I don't what it is.

I'll try to find something on the web, I'll get back to you if I find something.
