CHKN

Can't see Friend's multiplayer games
Enjoying the game. Bought a copy for my son so we can play multiplayer. Two computers on same LAN, both owning a copy of the game under different accounts, both accounts/computers online in Steam. We can see in each others' friends lists that we are both playing CHKN.

Multiplayer simply does not work - at least not for "Friends" and "Invite" visibility modes. Neither of us can see the other's game when one of us starts a game and opens it to multiplayer. We've tried both "Friends" and "Invite" for the server visibility. For "invite" mode, the "Invite Players" button does nothing. We could both see a random public server, so fundamental Steam multiplayer networking was functioning, at least for public servers.

Both computers are on the same LAN. CHKN executable has full network permissions in Windows firewall. Other games using the Steam multiplayer networking stack (e.g. Avorion) work fine.

Requested a refund for the second copy of the game for now. Hope it gets fixed!

Sorry to hear that you're having this issue. We do a lot of our basic multiplayer testing on essentially the exact same setup (multiple computers on the same LAN under different accounts) and have not been able to replicate this issue so far. This is really unlikely, but in theory the only thing that would cause this is a CHKN version mismatch issue between the two computers. Can you confirm that you both have the same build numbers in the bottom left of the screen?

Thanks for the reply - I was not able to confirm the version, but I can tell you that both were installed for the first time yesterday evening, so not much chance of a version mismatch.

Friend and invite only do not show in the public browser, only public games will show there. This is due to how Steam peer-to-peer networking works. You must invite through the Steam overlay or with friends mode the client could click on the friend's name and click join game through the overlay.

Thanks! I will give it another try.
