That thread got deleted cause it actually caught on cause some of the characters have some of the worst move sets or and has characters in it just for the slight comedy relief.
the game was just a once over thing it will never get another remaster or anything
They came under some issues with one of their former members "hint hint" read up about it. They got had to deal with some legal issues.
But other than that this game was bland off the back. I have played both RCR for the NES and the GBA I found those two games to be more fun than this put together boring ham and cheese dry sandwich.
They were never going to maintain this game in anyway or allow mods at all.
This game would not be able to work well with them either for a few reasons
and those reasons even if explained would go over some of these snowflakes head
or the heads of the self obsessive narcissists.
i was waiting for this game a long time but got so frustrated with it and uninstalled. just now getting back around to it and am doing a lot better this time but i'm only using one character and grinding a lot to keep myself over leveled (even tho it kind of seems like they give the enemies more health and skill too)
really it has a descent single player experience. i actually finally finished it a while back and had a good time. it took me a bit to figure it out because the first time i kept switching around characters when they came available and was trying to use rudy, (big mistake) and ended up uninstalling. but i eventually gave it another go.
i would say just pick who you want to use and stick with them the whole time and get said character leveled up. then if you want to run through again with a different character you can. after i beat it the first time i was good tho. may run back through it one day but i can say i had a good time with it when it was all said and done.
Completed game. Finished.
oh now i just saw the game you're talking about. it's just called Renegade. never knew that existed either. it looks like a
The unfortunate truth is that it feels like it's more of a character balance problem. Most of the cast - Glen, Paul, Provie, Ryan, (Secret Characters) all have normals that attack fast enough to tag an enemy easily after they attack you or try to back up, then they all have very easy combos, specials, etc that will typically floor the enemy or can mash results, especially once you get a few more moves for their standing combo. Bruno, Mike and Alex struggle more because they just aren't as fast at first and need more specific moves to capitalize on the dancing. Then there's RUDY, who I thematically love, but whose normals are so slow he can get interrupted by them mid swing most of the time IN ACT 1, if the enemy isn't just backing up out of the way of his molasses limbs before the combo even starts. Even once he gets Lariat you have to use it as almost a counter or just pray that you can get a little kick in first for some hitstun. Not to mention Hair Grab is probably his most essential non-Lariat move and is the hidden one. So the wiggling makes sense in that it's there to stop people from opening with the hardest hitting, slowest moves. But it really just stops slow hitting, heavy characters from basically functioning a lot of the time.
I think the biggest thing I'm disappointed they never fixed (and this also hurt Rudy more than everyone else, go figure) is throw damage. Early on IIRC throws hurt other enemies, but they nerfed it because throwing an enemy into a pile over and over became too "meta". And I can understand wanting to break that up when there are so many other fun ways to pummel thugs. But it really just ended up reducing options, hurting moves like Javelin Man and the entirety of Rudy for basically no point since most characters can TOD a mob anyway.
I am a Rudy main. I love wrestler characters in most games. However I have tried every character enough to find out which of their stats max out at 27, and even they struggle with the "wiggling" as you called it, especially in Act 3. However, Rudy in particular suffers soooo much from it, which sucks since this is a beat 'em up, I should be able to just go on a rampage and throw down like the Hulk (which especially applies to Rudy). I shouldn't have to use one or two moves/combos to succeed, and frankly, the only one who doesn't have to do that in act 3 is Paul, but he's a (really fun) buttonmasher character.
I've done the grinding and I know it's a diamond in the rough. However, despite Rudy being my favorite character, he suffers so much from the AI/computer's behavior that I've rarely gotten those high moments where he gets to go puny god mode on enemies.
From what I've gathered, the contemporary audience favors mechanically simplified beat em ups, with spammable button or two and straightforward, easy to learn controls. I tend to struggle with technical characters myself or some super-deep combo systems relying on parries, but I can't push myself to play something like RCG etc either. I think RCRU has something for everyone, as long as you enjoy the rpg/exploration/adventure subgenre instead of a straight cut beltscrolling beatemup. Every year or two I have an itch to replay a round or two and level up a different character or something.
If you or anyone else have angel investors lying in your back pockets to give to the developers of this game, "wishing" is pointless. Hard reality folks is game development, no matter what level, isn't cheap.
