No Route Problem
I'm playing my first game with Pak 128 just to start getting the hang of building stuff and routing things. I'm doing a random map with all options at default and the year is 1930.

I have a coal power station with 3 coal mines around. I built a rail station at the mine with 4 tiles with the coal loading station. I built a second one at the coal power station. that's 4 tiles with the coal loading station. I built a train depot near the mine with a one tile extension. I connected the rail stations. I built a train with a steam engine and 11 bulk wagons that showed a size of 4 tiles matching my station lengths. I scheduled the train to go first to the mine to load up 100% and then to the coal power station to unload. When I run the clock the train goes to the mine and loads up to it's capacity and then tells me it can't find a route. I thought that it would reverse course between stations. I tried adding a loop around the station connecting to the track heading to the power station but it wouldn't find a route no matter how much clock I ran.

I went back to the save multiple times rebuilding everything from scratch trying to add track loops around each station to ensure it could travel one way without turning around at each one but my train always goes to the first stop and loads up before it says it has no route. Even one-way block signals didn't help.

Definitely frustrating that I can't seem to get a simple single track train to run from mine to power station. I did the schedule correctly and the train started off just fine before giving me a very disappointing result. I never had trouble like this in any other game starting off with something simple.

I assume you have something like this:

I usually find these issues are due to one or both of the following:

a. The track isn't fully connected for the whole route.
b. There are conflicting signals preventing the train from reaching the destination.

If you want us to take a look, share the savegame, but basically what mr wibble said.

I was very careful to make sure the track didn't have any breaks in it. I had the train stations properly sited near the mine and power station to make sure each station tile was within range of the mine or power station. I did notice that sometimes what looked like connected track would have a little blue ending but I made sure to reconnect the track so those little blue breaks disappeared.

Since there was no need for signals on a simple single train route there shouldn't be any conflicting signals. I did try putting them in later but I made sure they faced the correct directions. I was really dismayed that a simple train setup wouldn't work in Simutrans but I can make work in Open TTD.

Sorry Roboron but I didn't waste time saving the situation since it didn't work. perhaps I'll try again but right now I'm not so interested in this game.

I managed to get the train working for the coal run after building a new line and really looking hard for any possible blue blocks along the line. The coal mine did show that I had the coal mine connected to the coal power station and trains moved coal to earn income.

The rail drawing feature is clumsy at best, really difficult to run diagonally and streamline the route.

You can build straigth lines by keeping the Control key pressed. Maybe that is helpful.

I'll have to test that out. I found making diagonal tracks difficult to go where I want them to.

Surprisingly, if there is a small stone-like object on the line, it means the line is broken. I struggled a lot with this issue initially as well.
