although, i tried placing a road depot on a dead end and yet it still said i couldn't place it there.

There is a "tutorial" of sorts- under the Help icon, but it doesn't go into a lot of detail (but neither would a tutorial)

if you have linux you have to unzip it, it's the nightly Simutrans version

easier is to subscribe to the workshop one
get the weekly_build beta
start the game select pak128 and select the tutorial scenario

Alrighty, I subscribed to the Pak128 tutorial, but when I try to start it, it comes up with a runtime error.
I tried with and without add-ons pak128, reinstalled Simutrans, but no cigar.
