Exapnding Line Management System
Hey there, me being noisy again.

So I'm playing the game as we speek, and here and there I setup some supply chains which aren't lines - they are usualy temporary solutions, like using my logs traing to also get planks to another factory.

The problem with those is I also want to keep track on how those 'non-line route' vehicles are doing profit-wise, and unfortunately the only way to check (correct me if I'm mistaken) is to locate (via map or vehicle list) that specific vehicle and check it's 'personal' stats.

Rogue routes
What I would love to see are buttons in the 'Line Management' window, which allow you to toggle the visibility of 'established' and 'non-established' routes - this way, looking for that train which is doing double duty will be much easier, but also tracking profit get's even more centralised.

So you would still have the tabs for different transportation type (train, boat, road...), but you could toggle visibility of 'rogue' and 'established' lines in the list.

Multi-view
Another super-neat thing would be if I could, using shift+click (or ctrl, or both?), select multiple lines at once, and see their total profit/expenses and whatever.

I'm sorry for posting a suggestion now that there is the whole 'Steam vs Simutrans' story going on, but honestly the whole story about it is what drew me back in to the game. I'm not expecting the ideas to be accepted, nor, if they were accepted, to have a 'before date'.

Also, I'm sure posting these in the official simutrans forums would be prefered, but honestly, I don't have additional APM to keep track of an external forum (the only reason why I'm writing here is because I already open Steam on daily basis, and I know I'll get a notification if there is an answer), so I'll have to ask for mercy and forgiveness on that one!

I don't know what is an APM, but you can subscribe to any Simutrans forum thread via email.

And yes, this is not the best place to post suggestions, as indicated by the pinned post, and also not the best time. Of course, I take into account suggestions, and I do plan to bring them back to the forum. But I'm the only volunteer working on Steam - most community members only read the forums - and I have a long list of TODO things before I can focus on discussing suggestions (bugs take priority over suggestions too). So, as things are, suggestions will need to wait a few months here before I can focus on them.

APM - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actions_per_minute - TL;DR - I don't have enough time nor brain capacity to have yet another thing to take care of (visiting a forum regularly to discuss my idea).

Of course, I've read most of the recent posts, that's why I added that disclaimer in the end - I wish you all the luck with patching the mess with Steam-side of Simutrans ;)

There is work in process for this things.

You can post there your suggestions.

If it is important, then you have time to promote your ideas in the int forum.
If not, why should anyone else should have APM for this.

Thank you for the link.

That is a very wrong outlook. What I'm doing with my suggestion is giving a piece of information to the group that might find it relevant - it is in no way my duty or obligation to invest time or effort to get an information to someone that might have a use of it - it's out of my kindness and willingness to help (as much as I can, given my own real-life duties and obligations) that I do it.

Leaving feedback (and that is what suggestions are) is a purely input-type relation - even more so when it comes to things like this, where my information can (maybe) help someone out, while I gain nothing in return - and I'm obviously not doing it to gain something.

I'm not claiming I'm entitled to any kind of update or improvement. What I'm claiming is that I unfortunately don't have enough time on my hands nor mental capacity to worry about a possible improvement. It's on this community/devs to put in the effort of collecting valuable information, like bug reports, QOL improvements or great ideas (not saying mine is any of those), so they could improve the game they love and enjoy spending time with.

Am I part of 'the community'? No. Would I like to be? Yes. Then why am I not more engaged? Not enough APM.

How much time someone has on their hands has nothing to do with how important or valid a point they are raising is. When you grasp this truth, your life will become that much better.
