Can you tell me what the blessing thing is then? The one the scarecrow thing offers in exchange for blood?
There are npcs very close to the start, go left or right from where the Priest is and you find two more immediately. There is one a lot further but once you beat a boss that one moves closer. One of the most important ones is after you go down, up the stairs and the first room on the right.
Thank you for the help. Just to make sure we are on the same page, when you say "decrease sanity" you mean it drives you more insane, right?
And yes Sanity is a mechanic in this game like the title implies, things will change as your sanity drops.
And my mistake, I guess I thought a "metroidvania" just referred to the large map with shortcuts and the leveling. I guess I completely forgot about the shortcuts being blocked by skills or abilities.
I guess I meant in games like this where you have a large area, tons of secrets, and a big system of interconnected rooms to explore.
I did already find the Knight 3 (I think?) game, looks pretty interesting.
