Updating Workshop
I read in patchnotes that we can update blueprints, etc. in Workshop, But how? I sent my blueprint for challenge again, for adding a few details. But was a new Entry.

A feature I was looking for ever since!
Great work, Parkitekt!

Need to find out how myself, there is no new option in the workshop.

One suggestion I heard, maybe upload with exact same spelling?

EDIT: It seems I can update >>new<< workshop items (after release of 1.5 patch) by pressing on the blue steam symbol in the content manager.
But so far I haven't found a way to update existing workshop items.

That's the message I get, when I try to update this item.
No idea what that means or how to fix it.

Build Challenge entries can still not be updated since it would allow submitting blueprints containing items that you would normally not be able to build in the challenge.

For everything else: if you go into the Content Manager and share something you have uploaded previously you'll get an "Update" button instead of a "Share" button. For content that has been uploaded to the workshop before the 1.5 update you'll have to subscribe to your old item first before you can update it.

That is exactly what I did. I subscribed to my own design, it was uploaded.
Then hit the original item 'share', then the indeed new 'update' button, which unfortunately leads to above screenshot error message.

Generally it worked with another workshop item (subscribe, share, update) successfully, but that was just for trial and item was unaltered (basically a re-upload to workshop so to say).

So with me it worked with an old Ride. But I changed only the roller coaster settings.

But to mention, in Content Manager is always a Share Button, but if you click on this of an updated ride, is in next window a Update Button.

Maybe because you have 2 copies of that? As I saved the blueprint with same name, program asked me if i wanna overwrite it. ofc should be the same upload.

Ah or it should not work because it is still a coaster with a Build Challenge tag.

Could you post the link to the Workshop page of that ride please?

Oh, didn't think of that ... it is indeed an older build challenge, although not the current one, but from months ago. But maybe the non-update restriction still does apply to those?

Crap. I just had to re-upload a challenge entry. Had 4 stars too.

But you shouldn't have to really. Maintaining blueprints is good for the game and should be encouraged. I don't see any point in retaining the restrictions permanently, at least not as a valid trade off for real issues. Why not let the edit restriction expire when the challenge is completed or let users remove the challenge-tag manually making it a normal blueprint?

Re-uploads are basically pointless if you don't remove the previous version (people will still pick the most popular one if you keep both) and even if you do, the new version is not likely to reach even a fraction of the original subscribers. Additionally, having duplicates clutters the workshop, and removing older versions is kind of a ♥♥♥♥ move? Right?

My submission for the June challenge has a pretty bad issue where it sometimes crashes during thunderstorms. I have a fix ready but can't update the blueprint. All I can do is warn people about it, but that blueprint has 1000+ subscribers and it's still going up.

A lot of people are going to die for no reason. :steamsad:

I had to re-upload due to the fact I left out a queue line which makes the ride pointless, and yes I knew I'd lose my votes... the older version did get deleted.

I too pointed that out above.

Older entries of the monthlies should be allowed to be updated.
Not the current contest runners and maybe not the winners of past contests. To avoid that someone completly messes up an integrated blueprint - sorry.

But for other entries, I would very much like to see that restriction gone.

I'm pretty sure the blueprints that makes it into the base game are copies and completely separate from the workshop version.

Well, you have blueprints integrated in the game, you can tell.
If they are indeed copies then they can't be updated. So it's already taken care of :snaggletooth:

Now it would be nice if Sebioff 'unrestricts' older contest entries (with each new monthly contest patch, making the earlier ones unrestricted?). :cozyspaceengineersb:
