Impossible Veles trial
So I ran into a strange situation - while doing the first Endless adventure I picked up Veles' trial, and the very first map turned out to be the end of the adventure, meaning that it was physically impossible to finish Veles' trial.

https://i.imgur.com/HJ7Obga.jpg - it might be hard to see, but the card above my character is the end of the adventure. I took all the HP and food restore/max/gain encounters during the draft and took the most optimal feeding route while exploring the map, but it was still not enough to feed Veles. The maximum amount possible to feed him without dying was 160 HP out 250 HP required, which would've left me with 5 HP for the fight and the other trials.

Is it intentional that some trials are impossible to complete?

There's no check to make sure trials are possible to complete, no. The intent is for the player to judge it for himself.

That said, does your figure include eating all of your food but one/two (to go to the boss fight and, if you have no trials that reward food, take one more step hoping you'll land on a food encounter in the next adventure?)

I accounted for all the food possible, eating all of it - I can buy the 3 food from camp for 15 gold in addition to the 7 I have. There are no steps left after the final encounter, no HP restore either (though it doesn't matter - Veles' last chance prompt is bugged and instead of draining you for the HP needed to finish the trial he does the total amount, so in my case he would've drained me for 250 HP and killed me).

Now that I look at the screenshot, I can see that you took a Veles trial on your first adventure. I strongly recommend against that for future runs.

I've tried that too on my first adventure and it seems impossible.
In fact, all the companion trials are(the ones I've seen), except for Malaclypse.

What's misleading about these trials is that they have a difficulty rank of 1, which is definitely not true.

For first couple adventures a lot of trials are going to be a lot harder than they should be and some might be downright impossible. For Veles the most reliable way to complete it is just gather as much food as possible, if you can get the chefs ring that'll make it cost less food too. 250/5 = 50, 250/8 = 31.25.

So if you took nothing but food cards, had Veles get some hp from fallen enemies and sacrificed all your gold/health you might've been able to just barely pull it off, but like others have said it's better just not to take it if you don't already have the food.
