Alien whips
Why are these things sometimes awesome and other times they just don't attack. I was training against AI and the marines would just walk up to them and shoot them down without them attacking most of the time?

whips only attack if they on infestation. once the cysts around them are killed, they stop attacking

Also, they have a short range of attack. they're best used placed just behind a corner, or in such a way that marines cannot avoid them, they must enter their reach. Otherwise, Whips are used to deny access to certain areas, in such a way that marines need to shoot them before they actually set foot in a particular spot. It "works" better that way against humans.

Whips in general are just here to be a nuisance, and make marines waste time.

Whips are great counter to JP like an AA gun.

if you place 4 of them in Cargo in Veil, you can shoot down jp easily
