A kinda serious dicussion about the future of NS2
Ever since UWE stopped active development on this 2 years ago, a lot has changed since then(what with the founders/directors gettin fired). So i'm just asking, what's the forseeable future for this game? I mean, i'm leaning more towards this game not shutting down and just going free to play, but with the Subnautica 2 drama going around, I don't see that happening.

Even if they shutdown the server browser (or any other game service that haven't been fully transfered on a Steam services base) game will not stop being played (like ns1 haven't stopped, or Battlefield 2 still popular even EA shutdown the auth servers). Community will keep the game alive. But you must not count on greater popularity - FTP will not help either. Best scenario if game will keep about 200 regular players for many many years. This is the future.
The server bnrowser is through steam so it is unlikely the game will 'shut down'; and it do be insanely stupid to try and make NS2 work again. Its effectively a dead game. Has always been etxept from its first year.
NS2 has been a disaster since it was announced back in like 2008. The game has always been buggy/glitchy and slow compared to NS1. I wish more people played NS1 still. Such a fluid and fun game.
