did you already follow the instructions at https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/4920/discussions/1/341537388320382330/ ? The game may not start if your system is missing the VC 2013 Redistributable Packages.
If that doesn't resolve your issue please run the techsupport.exe and post a link to your tech_support.zip here.
please try to directly start ns2 via the game's exe (right-click at Natural Selection 2 in the Library -> Properties -> Local Files -> Browse Local files- > open the x64 folder -> double-click at ns2.exe) and see if that yields any error message.
Additionally we need details about the systems of affected users. So please see if you can run the TechSupport.exe . Otherwise please run dxdiag (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028644/windows-open-and-run-dxdiagexe), save the details and post the dxdiag.txt.
I would like to add that i have 2 friends who cannot start the game.
Launching through steam makes nothing happen, launching it through the game exe file gives the D3DCOMPILER_47.dll missing issue, after downloading the dll and placing it in the folder it gives a new error with bunch of 00x00000 something. I forgot what it was exactly when i was troubleshooting it, basically, googling made it come up as a C++ runtime related error.
Neither of the computers can run the Tech_Support.exe either, which promptly crashes with the same error (either D3DCOMPILER_47.dll or c++ error) and produces no zip file.
I have tried all of the solution you have listed on the forums here and on NS2 official forums (reinstalling C++2017 and 2013, DX reinstall along with the june 2010 catalogs in steamworks, trying the DX9 folder rename in windows32 you name it I did it)
Both computers are running Windows 7; my own, which runs the game fine, is on Windows 10.
Im guessing they both arent running up-to-date Windows 7 which is why the update to C++ 2017 framework is giving them problems?
Any workaround suggestion would be appreciated.
I hope one of those solutions resolves the issue. If not please let me know.
