For anyone else that may have encountered this issue. Mine seemed to be due to a specific library not being available.

I was getting libsndio6.1 was not available.

With an Ubuntu based system just run the following

sudo apt-get install libsndio6.1

Once this is installed just restart your system and the game should boot up.
