-Tried restart
-Tried Verifying Cache
-removed all mods

any ideas?

Hi there,

i just played this game until 2 weeks ago, also with newest updates (332).
then i had to uninstall the vcredist 2017 in order to get version 2015 on my pc to play skylords reborn again.

now I had trouble starting NS2, installed the redist2017 (both 32/64 bit version) manually again, now game starts,

but "Your game files do not match the server's..." coming not sure which files i shall delete, or redownload or such, from searching the cause, ive seen the bug for 2013-2018, but no clue how to solve.

happens apparently to all servers.

already reinstalled game, re-downloaded it and such. happening on a new install it seems.
-> now i deleted the userdata folder totally and redownloading again.
-> problem still exists...after following the full nuke guide.

You can, while trying to join a server open the console (by pressing tilde key or the key left to key 1).

THe console will tell exactly why you cannot join. The "Your game files do not match the server's" error can have different causes.

Alternatively you can check the log file that is created in: %appdata% \Natural Selection 2 (paste this link into your file explorer). it's called log.txt and will be overwritten everytime you restart the game

oh thank you very much that i get this logfile to see.

i think i can try to resolve things with it, but i want to show you, so you can find fast the right solution. Or if u can.

it seems its not getting a whole lot of files.
i can see if i have those folders and delete/redownload them.
But you might find it faster or the direct way:

ah thanks to the log i got where i had to go:

roaming/NS2/workshop/somedirectories...


i deleted everything in there...

was clumpled up and i didnt know where to grab...

after deleting, it downloads everything fresh and game connecting works!

// sadly it doesnt delete the workshop when deinstalling ns2 or asks me if i want it. why dont you implement that? you are working on updates still...

Yea NS2 doesn't delete stuff that is in %appdata% which can be good but also bad. I am not sure if the devs know exactly what the issue is. I think it has something to do with the Workshop ns2 is using since it's ancient and has been dropped by Valve but somehow they still allow ns2 to use this ancient by some sort of proxy
