Any tips for red plug disconnect?
I know UWE is still suppose to be working on a fix (?) but I just want to play. Any tricks or hacks on how to fix this? One person said create a server and leave it, not sure that works for me but maybe there's other stuff out there.

Basically, any time I join a server after about 10-30s I get the red plug disconnect icon. If I wait long enough it'll boot me back into the menu and say "Timeout". Thanks

Did you try disabling your firewall/antivirus to see if that's the issue?

Did you try resetting or bypassing your router to see if that's the problem?

90% of the time those are the causes for what you described.

Yes, ports and firewall are set. Thanks

INTERESTING...a computer on my network was downloading torrents. I killed uTorrent, and now I've been playing for an hour for fine. Could that be related?

BT AV? better not to do this while playing, if using an old router, torrent will make disconnect sometimes.

utorrent is trash, it causes numerous network problems, crashes routers and overall downloads slower on the same swarms AND takes longer to reach a proper download speed after starting the torrent.

Avoid it like it's the bubonic plague. I personally use azureus/vuze but as long as you don't use bitcomet or bitlord every other client should be fine.

I use Vuze and when I am downloading large files from big swarms in maximum speeds, it happens to me as well sometimes, even though I am routerless(my ISP is required by law and contract not to throttle/block except for the agreed speed limit), but it doesn't happen in NS2. :o I am guessing that I am overflooding my connection by exceeding the cap on the throughput 30/30 Mbps. So I put a soft-limit target at 90% in Vuze and it seems to work now; perhaps uTorrent is improperly configured as well?

The combination is probably the cause though.

Lol trying to run torrents at 100% AND play the game will always give you an increased ping.
Especially with DSL technology where your download speed drops as your upload speed is utilised and vice versa.
