Stuck on tutorial start. - Garuda Linux
So, i have wanted to play this game since i was a kid, from the times i was playing SimCity Classic (then just SimCity), so i bought the game and installed it, it SEEMS to be running OK on Garuda, BUT, i can not play it, i can start a tutorial and i see that pop-up secretary talking, but i can not select anything on the game, and the only keystroke recognized by the game appears to be the esc key :S
I tried remapping the keys in the configuration menu, but there was no difference, any ideas or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

I can only confirm that this does not work on my Arch Linux machine either.

Indeed, it is "borked" on protondb https://www.protondb.com/app/492090

The game is fantastic, but unfortunately it is windows-only. If you don't have a copy of Microsoft Windows to play it, you better refund it...

I see, well no, i will NOT be refunding it, i will wait to see and i will also start to investigate what is exactly failing, i have some legal copies of windows for myself, as i work on IT, but i do not personally use windows anymore (well, i have a machine running wfw 3.11, but that is all) . Thank you very much for your help.

I think it has something to do with how the game handles the windows it makes. Have any luck getting it running, OP?
None yet, i have Mint-cinnamon and Garuda, and i have tried several types of wine files, i also mix and matched local and system libraries, but the problem persists, the only difference is that using system libraries i managed to make it work... worse :P
I just do not know why i can not do it this way, i am sure than a normal win32 or even win16 version should be working fine, i think it has to do with the fact that this version is "updated" for modern windows.

If you use a crappy O/S expect crappy results. No sympathy! Get a modern copy of Windows to use so you can play this fine fun game the way it's supposed to be played. I have no issues with Windows 11.
OK, i managed to get an "original" win16/32 version for testing, and it works properly and "perfectly" (as supossed to) on wine x86, i teied it as windows 98/me and as windows 7, BUT, it is not the steam version, it is the "default" old one. That left me to realize that whatever "magic" they tried to make the game W10/11 compatible, borked the compatibility with steam, maybe the devs at Proton can get a clue on that?

@Yuxtapuestoeimono - Don't hold your breath waiting for anyone to make a fix just to benefit one person! Try getting a good Windows O/S so you can play the Steam version the way it's supposed to be played.

This game does not run in WINE in all of my tests. Running a Windows virtual machine on Linux/macOS is going to be your best approach to play.
