After some help
Did the tutorials but i think i just need a basic understanding on this point. When i build a station does it have to be somewhat close to a depot everytime? And do depot supplies deplete regardless of if its passenger or frieght? Cheers

Freight stations do need to be near depots so that they have materials to move. Depot supplies are used by the AI when building buildings, but only for buildings within range so depots need to be placed around the map for good coverage.

You can also move supplies by trucks which is better for getting supplies to more areas. You need supplies to build buildings too, as well as the bullet train if that's a feature of a scenario. Passenger trains don't move or need supplies.
