Will Tropico 6 have modding support via Steam Workshops?
Fellow Tropicans!
First, we wanted to thank you for your ongoing passion, dedication and ongoing feedback that has already resulted in many improvements to Tropico 6, both before and after release.
By now you may well have seen (and hopefully read) the second open letter to the Tropico community written by Kalypso Media’s owner and Managing Director, Simon Hellwig. If you haven’t, you can check it out in full here:
https://blog.kalypsomedia.com/en/open-letter-2-to-the-tropico-community-march-2019/
With the release of Tropico 6, and all the planning for additional improvements to the game post-release, we have already announced an in-game map editor to be released after launch. Following this, we will then continue evaluating all possibilities for further modding options beyond the in-game map editor, and will be back with news as soon as we possibly can.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Will Tropico 6 have rebels and therefore protests and rebellions?
Yes, there will be rebels and guerrillas that can set buildings on fire. Additionally, even faction and superpower escalations!
When a player has a bad reputation with an important faction, this can lead to serious problems.
- Faction escalations happen, if one or more factions do not agree with El Presidentes actions. For example, the intellectuals can hack into the Swiss bank account of El Presidente and freeze his/her funds.
- Superpower escalations can lead to an embargo, which can result in a block on trade for important goods.
Will it be possible to play as a vicious dictator, without elections?Yes. You are El Presidente – you can do as you wish! However, how long can you stay in office when acting this way? Then there are military coups and the escalation of foreign superpowers to consider. El Presidente loves his office, and you will have to help him keeping it.
Will Tropico 6 feature cross-platform multiplayer support?
No. Players must be on the same platform network to play together, i.e. on console, Xbox Live players cannot play with PlayStation Network and/or PC players, and vice versa.
This is due to a variety of reasons, but the main one is the different architectures of the different platforms.
What about the players that will receive the first DLC as reward?
Taken from the official Open letter #1 written by Kalypso Media’s owner and Managing Director Simon Hellwig to the Tropico community:
“As a loyalty bonus and reward for your patience, all customers who have pre-ordered the game by 7pm (CET) January 10th, 2019 via our own Kalypso Shop, Steam and other digital platforms, will receive the first DLC, planned for Q4 2019, free of charge.”
