Otherwise, the main purpose of the game's warehouses is speculation. Maybe you don't currently have a good trade deal, or maybe you're playing with Llama of Wall Street and market fluctuations have dropped the value of widgets through the floor; regardless, you don't want to sell widgets right now and you need a place to put them until that changes.
Warehouses also have some minor utility if you're running Moon missions from the New Frontiers DLC, as one of the rewards you can pick for a successful Moon mission is to magic up thousands of units of cheese at your docks and warehouses - potentially significantly more cheese than a single dock can hold, especially if you already have cheese at the dock due to producing it the normal way. Obtaining cheese in this manner probably isn't worth the time and resources you put into the rocket, but it's better than nothing if you have a reason to send rockets to the Moon more than once or twice.
oh ♥♥♥♥ so if I have 4 docks I get 40k cheese and no more?!?!?!?!
