Don't you think the islands in this game are too small?
I'm trying to set up a sandbox with just one island and the largest size, but it still feels too small. I mean, I feel like the big island in Tropico 5 was probably twice as big, but here I feel like I'll run out of space relatively quickly.

I'm new to Tropico games (by new, I mean I only played T6). I think the sandbox map that are labelled as "Huge" is not big enough. There are few that has lot of land area, but the consequences is the water area isn't enough or not lot of beautiful islands for tourism. Some map has lot of beautiful islands, but the land area isn't enough for develop the economy. I really hope it is possible for the developer to create an even larger size (not limited by the game engine, code, etc)
Believe me, a large map of Tropico 5 was at least twice as large as the large map of Tropico 6. (or maybe I don't know how to generate bigger ones... that's also possible)
It feels small because you have more and bigger things to put in it. Plus the focus was primarily on being able to work on multiple islands. Tropico 5's maps seemed bigger, but if you go back and check there were very few large structures, no huge structures, and you really needed less overall to make an island work. Plus, you had to work with just one island anyway so might as well make it more land. Now you can build in the water, right?
