DLC Hell Award
I just thought about playing Tropico 6 again. Then I saw how much content the DLCs added.
145 € For 100% content
123,64 € on Steam with bundle discount

I'd have to pay ~105 currently for a 5 year old game to get 100% content.

This got out of hand. Not as ridiculous as Anno 1800 but still. Keep your DLCs. Sorry, I'm out.

If you think that is bad, take a look at "Rimworld" which is a 2D game going for $140+ (lowest is around $100 for the full game WHILE ON SALE) but this game "Tropico 6" elsewhere (namely HumbleBundle) costs a lot less for the DLC's at a mere $5 each (or lower) - oh and btw, "Rimworld" is 6 years old but the thing they did was remove the all DLC's pack for $80 which would be a more appropriate price for that title if rumors are true.:badluck:

Some day you will realize sale events exist and how to use the wishlist to monitor price changes.

Until then, stay salty :steamsalty:
Online you can get the DLCs (minus the scuba diving/whatever one) for about $15, with most pieces only being $1-2. There's some people who demonize "gray market" sites, but it's no different from something like eBay or Craigslist. People get cheap codes via HB, retail copies and etc and then they sell that off online, nothing wrong with it. The only time something is questionable is when people are reselling review keys, keys that were sent out with the notion that a reviewer would use the key to review the game. Often these are sent out in bulk, stuff like "one for you, 5 keys for your audience/readers". This mostly happens with indie games, as indie devs often try to get the word out no matter what, so malicious "curator" groups on Steam will fish for these bulk keys.
Again though, this rarely happens and only really happens with indie-indie games, not with AA or let alone AAA. "Stolen" keys are not a thing, as only the devs can generate keys and then they're the ones to give them out. If a key on HB is sold via a fraudulent transaction, like via CC, the key has a very good chance of being revoked by HB, as HB owns the keys after getting them from the devs. They can and most likely will revoke keys. This should happen within a few days to a few weeks at most, anything beyond that is safe. So these keys that have been $1-2 for years by now are definitely safe to buy.

Make up your own mind whether or not you want to pay $15 for all packs online, or get a single pack and a half here on Steam, for essentially the same price, at like 20% off for about $10-12.
I've bought the DLC for 4 and 5 for like $2 each, all DLC content. Again, make up your own mind if $15-20+ is worth it for a decade old game, or in case of this game like $50+ for a game from 2019.

Sales on Steam are often very poor, especially for titles like T6. Game's 5 years old, yet fetches a premium even for older packs.
A smart person will buy wherever the game's the cheapest. If it's a third party site, then you go there. If it's Steam during a sale (because no more cheap keys exist), you wait for a Steam sale. Call of Duty is the cheapest buying on Steam nowadays, while something like the Tropico franchise is by far the cheapest online.
The devs have sold/given out these keys that are being sold at one or multiple times, so they've already gotten paid for it. If someone decides to buy one of these keys, that's the smart decision to make.
If you think it's "bad" or you need/want to support the devs, go ahead and buy on Steam at full price/discount.

Even $5 per pack is too much in some cases. A DLC pack from 2-3 years ago isn't worth $5 if the content in it should've been base game content to begin with, which for a lot of these types of games rings true, simulator games are often being milked via these expansions packs. A simulator game should strive to build upon itself, which also includes new iterations, and not just reset the clock every time a new title comes out. Re-doing old concepts like vacation resorts or social sector as a new DLC pack every time is just greed and nothing more. It's being left out of the new title's base game with the sole intention of selling it as DLC later, knowing the cost versus work ratio is imbalanced.

I totally agree, Tropico 6 is basically Tropico 5, which is basically Tropico 4, etc all the way back to Tropico 1! The major changes over the years are the graphic content has gotten much better than the original. I won't ever buy any T6 DLCs and I doubt I'll get T7 if it is released. Only paid £14 for T6 which given that its got a lot of mods available I think is just about worth it

Okay, Skippy, here is what I paid:

Tropico 6 - Festival = $1.29
Tropico 6 - New Frontiers = $3.79
Tropico 6 - Going Viral = $2.39
And all the rest including the base game was $15 ($23 total).

Blame your countries currency (if you cannot afford pc/console games) not the developers - the funniest part of all this is that I am poor. :badluck:

Passive-aggressive opener, very nice.
1. I have the Euro as currency and I am from Europe
2. Going Viral's never been lower than -20% on Steam directly, at $12 (Euro, same exact thing)
3. If you grabbed it online on HB or somewhere else you're just adding to my point of it being too expensive on Steam and people should look elsewhere to buy it
Take your passive-aggressive attitude somewhere else, with your smile emojis and demeanor.

I think it's value for money we are talking about, not the total amount, I can afford it but I won't pay for it because I don't think the amount of effort that has gone into the game is worth the price. There is lack of attention to detail all through the game.

The prices in USD, UKP and EUR are about equivalent and I think the developers are in Europe anyway?

I think it's actually way worse than Anno 1800. ~$86 for everything Tropico you can catch Anno Gold for ~$30 on sale, add the cosmetics and it's something like ~$50 all together.

Just checked out Anno 1800 and it looks really good, it's a pity there isn't a Mac version or I would probably get it. I can Boot Windows too, but I'm mostly using Mac
