Right but I mean I can change the settings, make a game, then go back, change them to what they were, and it will be the exact same map. It needs better randomization so that it isn't the exact same map every time based on what the settings are.
Or are you saying you pick a different seed and its still the same map? Because that sounds odd.
No what I'm saying is compare Tropico 6 to say Civilization 6. A bit apples to oranges, I know, but go with me here:
Regardless of the settings you pick in Civ 6 if it's something like continents, island plates, etc.? Each time you start a game, even if you don't change them, you'll get a different map with different layouts, and never the same layout twice. Unless it's something like a True Start Earth map, which is fixed.
Here? The "random" map generator isn't random at all. It will always generate the exact same map under the settings you chose. It should be different every time if it's truly something "random." Make sense now?
All the smaller maps looks like 3-4 blobs of land of equal size and shape. Really takes away from the longevity of the game.
I understand the devs needs to sell DLC's with cool maps but they aren't even doing that, also most people want gigantic maps with lotsa land so I don't forsee cool maps like The Concrete Beach.
That's because Civ generates a new map seed everytime you restart. In Tropico you have to do this manually, but apart from that it works exactly like in Civ: Same seed and same settings -> same map. Different seed and same settings -> different map.
....No clearly it doesn't work exactly like Civ because in Civ you can leave the settings unchanged but you'll never get the same map twice. Leave them unchanged in Tropico, exact same map every time. :P
