UI Improvements (Please Get Back The Mini Map!)
The UI really caps the fun out of the game sometimes. I apologize in front for some frustrated tonality in this post, please try to see the essence in this text.

  • Stats changes consequential to actions are written in text, not in quickly recognizable bullet points

For example, a wealth tax is described with "Improves opinion of Communist fraction by 20. lowers opinion of Capitalist fraction by 10" - this is way to cumbersome, given earlier installments were perfectly able to make do with

"+20 Communists" (in green)
"-10 Capitalists" (in red)

Really, the paragraph above turned only out to be that long because you chose to make the stats prosaic. There are many other places where you hide game-stats information in text, making it harder for the player to make quick decisions.

  • Icons are not very recognizable

First, I take offense in displaying the Allied powers to be UK and USA, while France and USSR also were part of the war effort against the Axis. Second, if the icons are too small to make them detailed enough for that, that's really a problem. On other places, you felt it necessary to include the coast in the icons for export and import. Why? Just have arrows with a coin:

a red arrow with a green plus on the coin means export,
a green arrow with a red minus on the coin means import.

Done.

  • the trade view

You can't filter for either import or export, only sort, which is somewhat strange. More importantly, if you have contracts, these are time-limited buffs which also require a specific amount of supply to generate the effects at the end. For the economic survival of the island, trade (next to tourism) is so vital that I really wondered why none of these informations are more noticeable. I really need to read through the contracts to find out how many units are traded and how long the contract will run. These are two progress bars racing each other, and two progress bars your UI guy decided to not put in there.

  • WHERE IS THE MINI-MAP?

With a scroll speed slow as a snail, and an Archpelago view making you dizzy and never landing you on the right place, the player NEEDS a mini map.

As the scrolling speed is the only aspect of the camera which can't be adjusted by game settings, a minimap would really help to find your way around the island quickly. Switching to Archipelago view back and forth makes the player vertiginous and is not practical: a click on a minimap puts in only one more action before your intent and you're done with it, but this "Archipelago view" idea must be some coffee hipser's idea of an "all-in-one level map": you click, you scroll (slowly) to the place you want to go, you click again and - in this game - most likely land somewhere very different and have to zoom and scroll your way to the actual place you want (see thread for update) - this is very annoying if you're ought to place mines or farms on specifically marked regions, such as by fertility or ores.

Currently, the game is unplayable for a generation with a short attention span, and hard to play for seasoned economy sim's veterans like myself. This is very sad, because it's otherwise a good game.

Please see if you can improve the UI, because other than that, you made a fine game which is fun and brings a lot of new surprises and mechanics into the franchise.

Also, the localization (german) is cryptic and confusing. There is a quest which phrases, I quote:

Sabotage: finish Allied

(German: "Sabotieren: Alliierte beenden")

What does that even mean?!

Also a quick reminder that the queue in the Raid screen is bugged.

I grew accustomed to the new way of map navigation, but it is still foreign to the rest of the UI concept: placing a building on places of fertility or resources would rightly trigger a map where you can see them. Now, if you're zoomed in and want to place a building, you made exploring the place and placing the building two separate steps: if I have the building in placing mode, I cannot navigate around the map as the same controls are used for placing the building as they are for navigating the map.

It would be great to include a minimap which shows only when:
  • the player choses to see it permanently in preferences
  • the player is ought to place a building
Also, the minimap could also get switched off totally if the new navigation suffices.
