Suggestion for a new expansion: new era and expanding "diplomacy"
Hello, dear developers and fans of the game,

Tropico 6 is periodically expanded, which is good. But the expansions only have new buildings and a couple of new (maybe even little) features. That's why I was thinking it would be nice if the game could get a bigger expansion than just adding new buildings and maybe add more playability and a new flair, without changing anything essential, but making it somehow wider. And that's how I came to the idea: a new era is needed.

New era, new powers:
The new era would be the last one, so the era after Modern Times, and it could be named "Globalisation era" or, if you want making it a bit funny, "supermodern times". Particular in this era is that the powers would be the same as in modern times, but adding a couple more, maybe Brazil and Japan.
The idea of this era is that it represents the very present and also the utopian (or dystopian!) possible future, which gives more playing possibilities, if the developers would be willing to exploit this idea. The Expansion "New Frontiers" could also be expanded, in order to represent this future, and the main characteristics of this expansion should be moved to this new era (like Mars colony). But that's not the core of my suggestion, so I am not saying anything more about it.

New political factions:
Globalists on the one side, which value technology, money and having good relations with foreign powers. And Nationalists on the other side, which value military, happiness and exports.

New features: extraterritoriality and diplomacy
The core of my suggestion is on the one side the new era, and on the another side the extension of diplomacy, which would be richer having added a new last era. I can divide the idea of diplomacy into two main features, which actually act together:

1) Extraterritoriality: that means (also the concept is) that a part of your island would be build and somehow organised by a superpower. Of course, only if the Prez wants it! The Prez would have the possibility to rent of sell a part of the island (which should be marked by the player with an appropriate function) to a superpower. This district would be then operated by the AI opening a field for diplomatic relations. This function of extraterritoriality should be available from the Cold War era and the interests of the superpowers to acquire such districts would be different from era to era. For example in the Cold War would the superpowers mainly build military bases, in Modern times little towns, in globalisation era mainly exploitation disctricts.
This extraterritoriality feature also opens the possibility to expand the military and war features of the game, for those who like action (it's actually not my case...). For example, let's imagine you have good relations with the USA in the Cold War era and you rent them a corner of your island as big as you want for 10 yers for 1.000 money the month. They build there a military base. But at some point the USA gets upset, then they mobilise these soldiers, which are stationed in your island, against you. Or they may mobilise too, if you decide to terminate the renting contract, who knows... That brings us to the second point:

2) Diplomatic relations: I think first of all, that the interests of the superpowers should be different from each other (I think, it is actually not the case now) when making requests and gaining favour or disgrace. For example, China would be more interested in trade and buildings, the USA in military and Export, Russia in Export and Production. According to these interests it would be then also strategic to decide the kind of diplomatic agreement that the Prez wants to promote. And what are diplomatic agreements? Well, in the superpowers menu (or maybe just in the ambassy, I am not sure...) there should be a list of actions you can choose from in regards to the relations to that power. I don't think this changes a lot how embassy now works, but I think the actual logics of the embassy and relations to powers should be adapted to this new idea.
One of the most important diplomatic decisions is that of the extraterritoriality: rent or sell a district or "region". Then there should be much more decisions according to that status, for example an agreement so that the buildings, which the power build in its district, also can be used by your citizens. Or an agreement to use the ressources, which the power exploits in its region. Or the decision to expell the power from your island, nationalise the district which you years before had sold or chaning the power who rents that district. Obviously all these decisions affect the sympathy of that specific superpower and others. Maybe you can't take a diplomatic action without having sympathy or without having achieved any other condition.
There can also be diplomatic decisions which are not related to the extraterritoriality, like recieving refugees of sending military support (which means, you have to have a barracks to send your troops). These can also be requests from the powers, and, as mentioned before, requests would be of different kind depending on the power. The president of a power could also be invited in your island.

Others:
I would say that, according to my idea, new buildings should be added which in a way have to do with diplomacy and offer nw little features (I don't know which...) or expand existing ones, like corruption. For example a congress hall or an international court or a refugees camp or a residence house for visiting presidents. It would also probably be logic to add a new character or type of citizen: the diplomat. The more relations you have with a power, the more diplomats would be. In that sense is a "finest saloon" (which ist nothing more than a brothel) for diplomats a good building, too.
Appart from that there should also be new buildings which have to do with media or technology in general and ecology. For example an influencer factory, or a data mining agency or a forest recovery bureau, or a propaganda lab.
