Transportation Construction Tab
Transportation needs its own tab in the build screen. There are several threads out there about roads, trains and transportation in general, but this will tie it all together.
- Gravel road - available as the current road in Colonial Era (CE). This stays as a gravel road in other eras and costs less than asphalt road. Gravel roads have the slowest speed limits in the game and does not increase except with the Speedway edict.
- Asphalt road - available in Cold War (CW) and upgrades as usual in future eras,
- One-way road - two lane one-way road available in either CW or World Wars (WW). Road type is the same as asphalt road and upgraded with the era. Road direction is determined by the direction the road was built.
- Four lane road - available in WW - four lanes of travel that is faster than asphalt and one-way roads. Four lane roads would be two tiles wide. Traffic accessing driveways can only turn right (RIRO).
- Expressways - available in WW or Modern Times (MT) - Three tile wide roads with ramps. Fastest way to travel around the islands. Expressways have longer bridge limits when crossing water. Driveways cannot connect to expressways.
- Ramps - available with Expressways, allows access to and from local roads. Cannot connect to gravel roads.
- Elevated road - available with Expressways - Elevated four lane road that could create an overpass of a four lane road. Only used over flat roads. Expressways can end into elevated roads to convert them to surface four lane roads.
- Railroad - available in CE - Businesses such as factories and mines can connect to rail to improve their transport. Railroads need terminals or stations to function. Railroads can be designated for freight, passengers or both. Trains run faster on dedicated passenger lines.
- Terminals - available with railroads - Acts as a Teamster Office but can only move goods to and from places connected to railroads.
- Stations - available in CW or WW - allows passengers to use the rails, similar to how the bus lines or metro stations work.
- Subway - available in MT - allows construction of underground rails. Requires subway stations to function.
- Subway Station - available with Subway - allows passengers to enter and ride the subway. They have a radius and serve the residential buildings in the radius,
- Move the other existing transportation buildings including Bus Terminal, Parking Garage and Metro Stations here.
