If you haven't played it on any of the other platforms, I say 9 bucks is a decent price. Two sepereate stories. It has the same problems as all the other Disgaea games where you can beef up a single character and wipe through the story. You're not "missing" anything. But if you want to quench your Disgaea thirst this isn't a bad game to start with.

I play for the story and characters OP.

Depends, if you enjoy this kind of gameplay and anime stories, buy it, they are all different somewhat but similiar. Buy all of them :)

Disgaea 5 for gameplay, Disgaea 2 for story (it's miles better) and d2 is a great entry title, since it's not as complicated as 5 while still providing decent gameplay and balance. Try out free demo and see if you will like it. It's only few bucks and we dont know when d5 will be released

Steam page of d5 says it will be released in october, so it's not that far away, and i don't actually care much about the story in that kind of games.

it doesn't have nearly as many quality of life improvements as 5, if you want to cancel an action you have to cancel that entire unit's action, no overhead view, item world is ungodly difficult in the beginning, but if you get through that, then it's still a great title to play for sure. and for only $10.11 or $8.99? dude. And you don't even really need to ask, it's free to play til monday, you can check to see if you like it.

Also, as an add-on, because I wasn't really trying to discredit the older games, they have their value once you are familiar with the series, I did appreciate some of the stories for the recurring characters (who are mostly all in D5, but not all).

I played 5 first on my switch and it's definitely my go-to disgaea title. 2 feels too slow for me now, if you are going to buy 2 it would be better to play it before 5 so you can get used to the gameplay style as unlike 5 it takes longer for the speed of gameplay to go up. Both games have good stories and characters... I can't really pick one over the other there.
