Buy Disgaea 2, or wait for Disgaea 5?
I've played and beaten D1 and D2 (Disgaea 2) on the PS2, and own part 1 on the PSP. I've seen that their PC counterparts are the most fully featuring versions.

On its own merits, would you guys recommend buying Disgaea 2 regardless of that D5's Steam release is right around the corner? Would any of you play both regularly if you owned (or own) both, as opposed to just sticking with D5 just because it's new?

I think the only unique thing about D2 (Disgaea 2) was the Dark World. I didn't like how they removed Statiticians, but felonies make up for it. It's also a plus that this one retains weapon mastery, unlike 3 (I've never played 3) and 4, even though there's no monster weapon mastery like in D5. D2 also features more content and characters than D1, though D5 is the king in that regard.

Thoughts?

Disgaea 2 is a decent pick, but if you have already beaten Disgaea 1 and 2, I would suggest you to go for Disgaea 5 for the novelty. If you do want Disgaea 1 or 2 anyway, wait for a sale.

wait....They are skipping 3 and 4 and going straight to 5? I mean I can see why they would skip Disgaea 3 it wasn't exactly well recieved by fans and it's the least favorite of many Fans next to D2 but skipping Disgaea 4 would be a massive mistake it's a favorite amongsy most fans just like Disgaea 2.

It's not that they won't port D3 or 4. Supposedly, Switch/PS4 is easier to port from than the PS3/Vita, which might be affecting the choice.

dont use D to abreviate disgaea there already is a D2 use Dis instead less confusing

No.

Disgaea 2 = D2
Disgaea D2 = DD2

bought both :D lol - diagonal throwing is not possible if your PC is too fast for this game.

It's NOT possible, on PC; Diagonal throwing is a myth.

Yes, in the older games. The speed of your PC has nothing to do with it. D5 has diagonal throwing.

People wrote guides that you're meant to do it between the throw directions, and in between click the button to throw -but PC renders this too fast to do any such thing,

No. You were never meant to throw diagonally in those games. That was a bug. Only D5 has diagonal throwing. Maybe DD2, but not sure. Diagonal throwing in any other Disgaea was simply exploiting bugs.

This doesn't even make sense, the game doesn't fast-forward just because the PC is capable of it. All that does is let the game run closer to its intended speed. You can at the very least throw diagonally in Disgaea 2 PC, just execute the throw when the cursor is moving between panels.

Yep, and this is the bug I was talking about. It wasn't intended by the devs.

No. You were never meant to throw diagonally in those games. That was a bug. Only D5 has diagonal throwing. Maybe DD2, but not sure. Diagonal throwing in any other Disgaea was simply exploiting bugs.

The game speed does affect how quickly west or east becomes north or west, and it's too fast to catch it in-between cycles; so stop defending your myth
