Tl;dr: No, there wasn’t any Linux-specific updates to add windowed mode or resolution options for fullscreen mode. Assuming they are doing any more work for this port at this point, then to my knowledge nothing has been said.
On a side note, back when Steam Play first started I heard people could request fixes to games that don't work properly on Linux (cause lord knows there are a lot). Wishful thinking, but maybe it's possible to request some kind of windowed mode fix for the Linux version? And hopefully a fix for the freeze on exit bug too, since I never had that issue on Ubuntu 16.04 back in the day, but it always happens on 18.04.
Also if you care, Disgaea 1 works on Steam Play but only in windowed mode for the time being (unless they fixed it recently). Just keep in mind D1 was never a truly good PC port in terms of optimization.
