Disgaea 2 PC not working after hitting Play Button

Hi I'm on a Windows 10 PC and the game works on my older PC 8.1 but support for 8.1 is going to end by Jan 3rd 2023. I have checked all the files they look the same in the steam folders on both PC's.

I have looked through different ways of trying to get the game to work through compatibility mode and so on but have had no luck.

Try checking the Event Viewer for info?

If I create a desktop shortcut and run the game from my desktop it seems to run every time with no issues. I've had this happen with other games, not this one though so I hope this works for you.
