Like adell can deal +25% to higher level enemies so more HP would be good,
but you’d want more MP / RES on a mage As it’s a Back more defence unit
Ninjas do better with say more SPD then ATK to be Harder to hit
Treant monster.
I wonder if Res / Def'd just make him take 0 dmg? So I wonder if HP items are useful.
The endgame is mostly about annihilating the enemies in the first few turns though.
Do you think I should dump Res?
Like have it be at near-base level while just stockpiling HP and def?
How does res and def work?
Is it:
(Atk - def = dmg taken if the value is positive.)
HP is better for Regen Geo effects, while RES is better for anyone that will be using Heal magic and skills. Also, RES does nothing against non-magical attacks, so there's that. A unit like a Wood Golem does better with HP, whereas a unit like a Healer does better with RES.
That said, high enough SPD, RES, or DEF means you won't take any HP damage at all, so they are more important, but ATK, HIT, and INT are more important compared to RES and DEF, depending on the unit and their equipment. Some enemies like the optional super-bosses have high enough stats that you're dead regardless of defensive stats.
Math Nerd Version:
The damage formula (before accounting for Elemental % and Critical Hits) is:
[[[(A + [B × C / 100]) x D / 100] x E / 100] x (100~120) / 200] - [F x (45~60) / 200]
Where A is...
- HIT for Guns
- (ATK + HIT) / 2 for Bows
- (ATK + SPD) / 2 for Fists
- INT for Fire/Ice/Wind/Star Spells
- ATK for everything else not specified
...B is the hidden base power of the attack, skill, or spell, C is a Character-Level-based modifier...
- If Level 1-400, then C = Level + 100
- If Level 401-900, then C = 500 + ((Level - 400) / 2)
- If Level 901-9999, then C = 750 + ((Level - 900) / 5)
- C will be capped at a maximum of 2749
...D is a Skill-Level-based modifier...
- If Skill Level 0-21, then D = 100 + (3 x (Skill Level - 1))
- If Skill Level 22-91, then D = 160 + (2 x (Skill Level - 21))
- If Skill Level 92-97, then D = 300 + (5 x (Skill Level - 91))
- If Skill Level 98-99, then D = 330 + (10 x (Skill Level - 97))
- D will be capped at a maximum of 350
...E is a % based on the attack, skill, or spell, and F is the target's DEF for physical attacks or RES for magical attacks. Note that, despite being based on HIT, Rozalin's Rose Liberation is magical.
My level 1100 Wood Golem defeated a fused up Item God who was level 6845.
But couldn't have solo'd it without running around and kiting it.
My Golem does know Braveheart and Shield and Omega Heal.
I wonder if the fight'd been easier with more Res. Probably not.
Golem'd probably died then.
so whatever you do will not be optimal.
obviously it all helps. More HP helps especially if you have REGEN heal 20% tiles heals more.
More DEF and more RES helps but if you are on 20x stronger enemies ++ you probably aren't going to be able to stack enough RES to ignore damage. and should focus on killing them before they can kill you. so its about the number of hits you can survive.
I made Dark Eclair my go-to hero. she has decent stats and levels super quickly I think like a thief. so I could easily fully transmigrate her.
What level enemies begin being ones where you need to kill before you're hit?
