Hmm, that's unfortunate. Do you have any idea of what could it be? Maybe the tone and/or the story/characters so far? Or perhaps it's in part due to having played the first one, like being a bit burnt out or maybe the jarring difference in the stats (going from millions of dmg back to single digits)? A bit hard to say with just that =p

Well, if I think about the things I didn't like.. the style of the maps, I would say I prefer the first game, and also the artstyle of some characters seems a little inferior, except for Adell and Rosalin and a few others. But maybe you're right, I played the first game a lot, I'll take some time before diving into Disgaea 2, but I definitely wil play it

The first Disgaea is overall the oddball in the series. The rest of the series "looks" and plays more like this one. That's why a lot of the less "cartoony" looking monster types from the first game such as Treants and Faeries probably won't appear again. Heck in the most recent remaster of the first game they outright replaced some of them with "equivalents" from later games.

Why did they bother to replace the original monsters? All the games are different. Disgaea 1 has an item world that requires throwing, Disgaea 2 has felonies, Disgaea 3 has combine specials with two characters limit, Disgaea 4 has monster fusion and giant magichange, Disgaea D2 has Character's Likeability, Disgaea 5 Overload powers... Eh I would like to see a complete list on basic disgaea differences. But do you know why they changed the monsters in disgaea 1 complete?
