Well, seeing as the demo was just updated I'd give it another whirl. But alas not. It crashes right after the intro still.

i7-2700k (4.8ghz OC but tested without.), nVidia 1060, 16gb. Windows 7 64/Pro. Creative Xifi champion edition (PCIe + front panel)

EDIT: I know since the past topic that was ignored that me and some of the others are related to our soundcards. This can be proven by simply disabling them and you get into the game perfectly fine.

Same with the full game. Can't past the video intro, can't reach main menu.
i5-4670K 3.40ghz. 8gb. win10 64. GTX680

More to the point, since the beta thread was more or less ignored. If you disable yours, does it work? Please reboot after disabling it from the device manager to be sure.

Won't matter. It still uses the same audio driver. OpenAL if I don't remember wrong.

I figured that was the case as well. Good to hear but playing without sound isn't that great. Let's hope someone actually picks up on this now. As the cause i known already.

I included my sound card info (creative x-fi) in one of my trouble shooting post about this when the demo first launched (since they included the OpenAL drivers).

They should have had this info to trouble shoot then.

In fact i have the bad sound of my nvidia card by the monitor. It's horrible ;)
Need a fix patch please.
Right, so after some slicing and dicing... Here is a somewhat poor solution but a working one. What's been done is basically to disable the OpenAL's hardware support leaving it in soft-support instead.

What this means in "English" is that there is no surround support but you'll be able to run this with a Creative card. This will however require you to download a file I put up on my dropbox. Simply extract the dll into your disgaea 2 folder (where the disgaea2.exe" is)

You're now ready to start the game like normal; Only this time getting to the menu and beyond. This should work for anyone with the same issue but it it does/doesn't do let me know!

Welcome both of you, glad to see it working out :)

Should there come up something else (although I have my doubts.) do let me know. I suppose it's safe to say both of you have a Creative card (just for completion sake)?

Don't worry my doods, this has been reported, the devs are seeing if there's something they can do now!

I have a creative X-FI and experienced the same problem on 64-bit Windows 7 (game would hang after the intro videos). The OpenAL32.dll that Mr. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ attached has resolved this problem for me as well. Kudos to you, sir!
