Game(demo) freezing after intro film. (work around included)
Quite awhile ago I tried to play the game (demo) under Windows 8.1, I had this issue then, however I have an odd config so I figured it was that. However after recently installing a fully up to date Windows 10 I'm getting the same issue.

It appears to just inf loop consuming a whole core.

Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5-4670
RAM: 32GB DDR3-1600
GPU: nVidia GTX 970
AUDIO: Creative X-Fi Titanium HD

After searching for forums I found that someone had a fix invloving a modified openal32.dll, so with some more debugging, if I set my sound device do something else (e.g. a generic USB audio device) the game starts up just fine, and even MORE strange is that if I start the game up with the generic USB device set as default, while the intro movie plays the game continues just fine, while playing the audio through the Creative X-Fi device.

So I'm 99% sure that the issues with the game freezing are due to some odd audio issue.
I have tried everything between disabling all enhancements, switching between gaming/creation/entertainment audio modes, switching the clock from 192khz to 44.4/48/96 and 16/24bit, and nothing seems to help, the game just doesn't like it when this card is started up with it as my default audio device.

Hopefully this helps other people too, and could lead to there being an actual fix.

Hi, I found a solution to this problem. I have the same sound card - Creative X-Fi Titanium HD, which sometimes doesn't play nice with hardware implementation of OpenAl. There is a software implementation of OpenAl that can help with problems like this with older games. The version I used I downloaded from
https://beamdog.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/206729933-Windows-My-Game-Won-t-Launch-Or-Is-Crashing-On-Launch
at the bottom of the page. You can go to

to find the project. This fixed worked perfectly for me. I hope it helps you.
