Will there be another iteration of this gametype (sorcerer king / FE:LH)
Title says it all. I like these type of games and was wondering, if a continuation of e.g. FE:LH was in the works?

My sentiments exactly

Think there is one either underway or set to be underway at some point. I also believe it will be a new IP, so the world of Elemental (E:WoM, FE, FE:LH, SK, SK:R) will be left behind.

We haven't heard any confirmation of any of this though.

The thing to keep in mind is that this is the literal sequel to fe:lh it’s also the tie-in for how magic died causing tech to later rise, leading into gal-civ. (It’s official canon that they’re all in the same universe) they basically have to do a new ip as a spiritual successor cause they’ve written the fe games into a corner

My thoughts are why would they make a sequel to a game that appears to be abandoned? As I mentioned in the past they mainly focus on their space games. I'd look elsewhere... These forums are more or less dead along with Warlock 2... Only Eador Masters of the Broken World and Age of Wonders 3 seem to be alive and well and likely to produce future games... Of course there are a lot of other new types of games circulating on steam that are fun to play as well.

i wouldn't put too much stock in eador. Every game is literally a copy of the previous game with slightly better graphics, and maybe 1 or 2 things added that they stole from mods. XD

Sorcerer King isn't the sequel to Fallen Enchantress but rather was intended as a bit different direction for the Elemental fantasy universe to try to take.

Fallen Enchantress is a fantasy 4X. Sorcerer King is a 4X RPG.

I think the future will requiring returning more to a 4X focus.

Just 4x? I quite liked the fantasy and rpg aspects as they gave the 4x gameplay more immersion and context. In anycase, this is all welcome news for me since I love 4x games.

I don't have the exact press release to link to, but it has been confirmed by the devs that they are in the same world.

As far as I know, Elemental and GalCiv are not in the same universe.

Hopefully Frogboy/Draginol will chime in to clarify.

In the broader history, Elemental and Galactic Civilizations share the same universe.

In the beginning we had:

Elemental: War of Magic - 4X
Elemental: Fallen Enchantress - 4X
Elemental: Sorcerer King 4X RPG

Now, personally, I would like to combine the 3 above into a single 4X game. It would take some work but I think it would be worth it.

So Gal Civ takes place well after any Elemental timeline? I'm inferring that from "In the beginning."

I would have thought that GalCiv had come first in a shared universe, where the peoples of Elemental were remnants from once space-faring races. Not sure if my theory fits with the Destiny's Embers story. Haven't read that in quite a while, so I'm definitely rusty on the story line.

I actually like that theory better from a story perspective, though I don't think it's what the devs would go with.

Now that would be absolutely awesome!
