Sorcere King Re-branded?
Having read about SK:R on the Stardock forum, it sure doesn't seem very different then Sorcerer King which I already own. On their forums, Stardock said SK was lacking in replayability (which is a pretty big issue for any 4x-style game). So they go make a second game trying to address thst issue and charge us for buying essentially a fixed version of the first game? Does this not feel a litt scammy to anyone else? I'm not a Stardock hater (really enjoyed FE:LH and played SK for a bit) but this leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

They're just re-releasing the same engine, upgraded/changed over and over again. Stardock has a recurring revenue model on their office products, and they are trying to do the same with games. It is very scammy, and one of the reasons I stopped buying their stuff.

It's not an xpac it's an updated version of SK. We should have gotten this for free as an update but they wanted to make money by selling at as a stondalone xpac like they did with Fallen Enchantress. GG

They did the same thing with Fallen Enchantress then milked us with TONS of dlc.

this is pretty normal if you look at what developers have been up to in the last year or two. it sucks yeah, but its not surprising.

1) they have to pay their staff
2) they are a for-profit business
3) seems that its working since everyone is doing it. so its not "wrong" or "bad" from economic perspective

vote with your wallet. but i doubt it will matter becuase people will buy it.

for me this "new" game has made me curious . i might buy it. i never played the "original".

Hmm well glad i stopped at fallen enchantress:epic heros as this still looks like 5 steps backwards from that.

Yeah, well I won't be buying this one. Part of that is the original wasn't that great. Decent for a first playthrough but not overaly compelling to play multiple times like a solid 4x (or even RPG) might encourage you to do.

I can tell from reading this thread that it really sucks for people with no disposable income. Don't worry, you'll get there one day.

I believe that was the poster's intent.

I never bought the original Sorcerer King, but I did play FE:LH. I liked FE:LH, but eventually got tired waiting for some much-needed tweaks to fix some of the imbalances. How does Sorcerer King compare? Worth buying if I liked FE:LH?

Sorcerer King is more like a rogue-like 4x. It's nothing like FE:LH. It's more hero-centric and you do quests and progress towards an end boss. Not so much build a civ and maintain it.

Yeah, SK definately will not scratch the same itch imo. A lot lighter on the 4x front. You'll pretty quickly run out of thinigs ot build for cities, no techs to speak of, etc. Sort of 4x lite and RPG lite. On sale, maybe worth it, but you're not likely to pile many hours into it.
