In a different post, I mentioned this and the addition of tools (IE the flashlight) to complete levels like this. Another aspect that could branch from this is the use of some smaller game components.
Torches: could provide light for the dark areas or even leves if implimented. To get a torch a player must put a stick in a flame or lava to ignight it. From there the torch can be used to provide light through the level.
Alternative WIN conditions: Not just getting to the flag but getting to the flag with the torch lit, could be a implimination of a alternative win condition. If this was the case you could have level require multiple players in order to finsih them. Throwing a torch while on a wall is harder than it sounds.
IN-Game LOGIC: The "If statment" is simple enough to explain in context what it can provide map makers and the experience they can provide for the Climby community. Granted LOGIC would be more inclied to enhance the multiplayer aspect, it would still be fun to be able to create a more one of a kind, dynamic experience for all the climby fans out there. It would also add a bit of life to each map in the way it is presented.
Amazing Race [GAME MODE] : With the release of the CTF update and a small "combat" mechanic we now have the abilty to play in a more competitive mannor with our fellow climbers. Amazing Race, (does not have to be called that, just thought it was appropriate in order to paint the visual picture) would allow players to be broken down into single man teams, or multiple player teams (map setting dependant). And race against the other to get to the end of the map. once the full team has reached the end, points would be awarded to that team. Another map would be selected and the teams race again. This would go on for a total of 3 rounds, and the team with the highest score wins.
Grab n Go [GAME MODE] : simular to the Amazing Race idea above the map would be structured the same way. Teams broken down, and race to the end of the map to secure a neutral flag then race back to their base. As they collect flags their score goes up, the level is over at the end of a designated time. Any number of team members can grab flags. Meaning that if me and one other make it to the end we can both grab flags to take them back. The catch is not only the fact they we now have to race back to our base, but we have to get the flag back with one hand and avoid getting attacked by the other team and intercepting our flags. This game would incorperate a different form of strategy.
