Performance dropped new version
Back when this game was fairly new, the performance was great. (R9 Fury).

I just tried the game again after leaving it alone for a while but the performance is atrocious.
It's affecting my physics (can't jump properly when the performance dips, which is most of the time).

What the hell happened?

I agree!! It is running horribly. I never bought the game when it came out originally but saw a video of the gameplay and it looked like fun and also did not see all of the stuttering. Whenever I jump toward a wall or platform it stutters really bad! Almost to the point I get sick and I'm pretty immune to sim sickness. For such a low polly game I'm surprised that it struggles, but maybe they arent aware of the issues. Please dev can you update when possible. It's a great game and I'm having fun, but I would love it so much more if it functioned perfectly.

(Oculus Rift, GTX 1080, i7 i6700k)

Hmm that sounds terrible. I'll see if I can figure something out!

In the mean time, one of the big performance hogs is the skybox, as it's dynamically generated 3D noise clouds. If you set your skybox to Static Default it should improve overall performance.

I'm running a 1070 with a Ryzen 1700x, I do have a system with an i7 2600k and a 970 that I use for performance testing but I must admit it has been a while since I last tested it on that machine.

Hey dude, thanks for the reply.

I think I figured out what the problem was.

The game was rendering at full 1440p resolution on my desktop monitor. After resizing the window to something a lot smaller. Performance was like it used to be.

I just pushed a pretty big update so let me know if it degrades performance at all.

The spectator camera can also be turned off for an extra performance boost by hitting the "cam" button in your menu. :)

I'm sorry I played a little bit and while it is not having the performance drops it was previously, it is still juddering occasionally. I'm also not using a cam, no supersampling, and a static skybox. :( It's playable but not perfect.

When you launch Climbey, is the game on your monitor (your flat monitor) running at your screens full resolution (like, fullscreen?).

In my case it was running at 2560x1440, after lowering it (by dragging the borders of the window) to something like 640x400 or whatever, the game runs very smoothly.

OK cool thanks! I will try that when I turn the game on today. I’m hoping this will solve the issues. I usually have it full screen so maybe that’s why??

My guess would be that's the cause yes. Let me know if it works :)
