Steamvrinputbeta problems
Climbey was working just fine prior to installing the beta. After installing the beta, climbey will run for about 2-3 seconds in the menu room before i am suddenly kicked back to oculous home in the headset. On the monitor there will be a pop-up for steam VR saying 'VR server is not running' and tells me its neccesary for steam vr to work. If i click launch VR server, steam vr will lose connection to all of the oculous VR components at which point the only thing i can do is restart everything.

I've tried uninstalling the beta. Climbey reliably starts up but does not register any controller inputs, that means no moving, jumping, grabbing or opening menues.

I'm going to try reinstalling the game in general.
Edit: nothings working, i am unable to play the game in any capcaity.

Did you try getting on the SteamVR beta? There's an issue with the new input system that makes it not work on Oculus in some cases, they've fixed it in the SteamVR beta.

Do note that you have to stay on the input beta branch after you've selected it once, because it makes a reference to an actions json file in the steamvr.vrsettings file in your steam install/config folder.

You can technically delete that reference, but the new input system is going to be in the main branch soon as the Halloween update is dropping tomorrow.

Hey, I'm in the steamVR beta and still experience the same issue. Is there anything else that can be done?

Reinstalling the game has worked for some people on Rift experiencing crashes, so give that a shot and report back. :)

Got the same problem from:
- reinstalling the game, loading it on main branch and then retrying on beta branch
- reinstalling game and just trying main branch
- reinstalling game and just trying beta branch
all while still on the SteamVR beta.
The game isn't crashing so much as just not allowing me to view or control it in my HMD, and I'm starting to feel like this problem might be more of Oculus's falt seeing as their entire home menu system is very poorly made...

Hmm yeah so Valve doesn't seem to test the Rift very thoroughly with SteamVR, so things like this appear to take some time to get sorted out sadly, it's kind of out of my control and the problem lies somewhere with your setup as I've seen plenty of people on Rift play the game fine.

So it's basically a mixture of Valve and Oculus' fault, as well as weird things specific to your setup and settings, which sucks because it's hard for me as a developer to make sure it works for everyone given all the different variables :/

I hope you can get it working soon, but I have no more advice to give sadly...

Same problem here with the normal install (Oculus as well). The demo worked fine.
Not really motivated to try the beta etc., so I'll just wait until this gets sorted out.

Are you folks launching it through Oculus' Home menu instead of running SteamVR separately, then starting the game through your desktop or even the SteamVR overlay?

Because I've heard that might be a problem.

Try running SteamVR separately, then starting the game through your desktop or the SteamVR overlay?

I'm starting via SteamVR (but Oculus runs as well).

How can I completely remove Climbey in order to reinstall it? Where are my personal settings etc. saved? Deinstalling via Steam doesn't do the trick, the game isn't reset.

It's a little tricky, if you want to completely wipe your data you're gonna have to go into your registery, it stores all userdata there.

On Windows find a program on your computer called "regedit" you'll be able to find it with the search on win10.

This opens up a window with a toooon of folders, Climbey is under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ShadowBrain Games", you can safely delete the "ShadowBrain Games" folder and that'd reset all the data in the game and re-create the folder once you start the game again.

Thanks, that worked! (Didn't fix the problem, though. I guess I'll just wait until the VR fix gets an official release.)
