Steam play / Linux status
I feel like the Steam Play feature has breought Haydee really close to Linux machines, but we aren't quite there yet.

Currently I'm getting crashes on startup, but not because of video driver issues.

Haydee Log:
OpenGL Info:
vendor: X.Org
renderer: AMD Radeon (TM) R9 390 Series (HAWAII, DRM 3.23.0, 4.15.0-43-generic, LLVM 8.0.0)
version: 4.5 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 19.0.0-devel - padoka PPA
uniforms: 16384/16384/16384
feedback: 128/4/4
hdALInitEFX: failed alcIsExtensionPresent
hdKeyboardInit: failed to create input
hdInit: failed

The Mesa 19.0.0 seem to oblige the OpenGL3.3 minimum requirement! This was an improvement coming from the Mesa 18.1 driver. If you're seeing hdGLInit: Minimum required OpenGL version 3.3 not supported, then updating Mesa might help push you a bit further.

Digging further into the first failure (failed alcIsExtensionPresent), it appears like an OpenAL issue. The log didn't specify what extenstion was missing, but I was able to pull the info off my machine using openal-info in the terminal.

ALC extensions:
ALC_ENUMERATE_ALL_EXT, ALC_ENUMERATION_EXT, ALC_EXT_CAPTURE,
ALC_EXT_DEDICATED, ALC_EXT_disconnect, ALC_EXT_EFX,
ALC_EXT_thread_local_context, ALC_SOFTX_device_clock, ALC_SOFT_HRTF,
ALC_SOFT_loopback, ALC_SOFT_output_limiter, ALC_SOFT_pause_device

Shooting from the hip, It could be that Linux doent quite have the support yet in openAL, or maybe Steam play isn't quite passing the device name & extension to Haydee.

Anyways, I'll dig into the other two failures anopther time. If anyone has got further in running Haydee using Steam play, please post your setup!

Mine currently gets as far as the main menu but if I move the mouse or press any button it freezes.

My game.log is as follows:

Haydee Log: OpenGL Info: vendor: NVIDIA Corporation renderer: GeForce GTX 980 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 version: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 418.56 uniforms: 4096/2048/4096 feedback: 128/4/4 hdALInitEFX: failed alcIsExtensionPresent

I'm running proton 4.2-2 on ArchLinux.

Edit: openal-info output

I have it working! Proton 4.2.1-1 (According to AUR through yay, however Lutris shows 4.2-288)
game.log:

Ignore the weird artifacts at the top and bottom of the shots, scrot doesn't play nice with my three displays when trying to capture all of them at once.

EDIT: I should probably mention that I'm using Lutris to run the .exe directly with proton instead of going through Steam as that just crashes.

It's running really well with Proton 4.2-9 (disabled Steam Overlay), on Linux Mint 19. I have only done some shorter tests atm, so not played for any length of time. Of the few "Proton games" I've tried so far, this runs best. Actually, it seems to run perfect!

How can I get Haydee running for me?
Azriel.Legnasia 19 Jan, 2021 @ 11:05pm
It's running now with the latest Proton build and Driver updates from Ubuntu/Mesa. It turns out there was a compatibility error due to some variables and how how different drivers handle them. Just got it working tonight and thought I'd chime in and let y'all know.
Here are the links to the threads where the problem was found. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/530890/discussions/1/2933490248148369383/
