I think this bundle is deplorable
I just got the last two of the bundle show up in my library. The others were previously given away for nothing. That should be a clue that they are not in the Steam store to generate revenue because they are quality but merely exploits.

Date Given Away By Indie Gala 5/27/17 Torch Cave 5/30/17 Torch Cave 2 gleam site 4/13/16 Rage Parking Simulator 2016 4/25/17 Sleengster Just showed up in my Steam library 6/2/17 Sleengster 2 6/3/17 Barclay: The Marrowdale Murder

All but Barclay are nothing but an exploit to sell achievements -- this is even blatantly proclaimed on the "bundle" graphic. They are not (and I hesitate to call them this) "games". Just read the reviews. In addition, with 9 trading cards each, it exploits the trading card system. These are not much different than the trash that digital homicide cranked out in order to receive trading card revenue. I think it's deplorable and I don't understand why Steam allows it. Even Walmart has standards and does attempt to avoid selling trash. No one expects Steam to be Neiman Marcus, but no standard except "buyer beware" is not good.

Achievements, although they have no value, are supposed to be earned in some fashion -- not sold. It's the same reason that Olympic gold medals are not sold, not World Series titles.

Achievements Trading Reviews Cards Barclay: The Marrowdale Murder 0 5 No Store page Rage Parking Simulator 2016 466 9 Negative Sleengster 428 9 Mixed Sleengster 2 374 9 No Store page Torch Cave 382 9 Negative Torch Cave 2 415 9 No Store page

I think it's deplorable.

In conclusion: you receive free games and cards and you complain about that, lol, so many morons on steam

Did I say anything about getting cards? Can't you read? The subject of my post is a developer selling achievements and generating revenue from trading cards whcih is exactly what DH was doing. If you don't see that, it's not my concern. I see it and in my opinion it's deplorable.

It's just a marketing strategy to sell their games more easily and quickly using steam features (cards and achievements). They are not the first, are many devs what make many easy achievements for profit. So, if other devs can do that, why can not they do the same thing? What's your problem? They have to live out of something, no?
Don't like, don't buy.

Since I personally have received the 1st four items in this bundle from give-aways, and the last 2 just showed up in my library, it is obvious to me that this is not a "marketing strategy". No business gives away thousands (I'd guess well over 10K copies) for free. That makes it clear that the goal is not to sell games, but to get their trading cards into Steam's system. This bundle has 49 cards -- that's $0.49 profit for each and every person who sells these cards. This is the reason that Steam itself calls developers like this "bad actors". Read Steam's blog, educate yourself: Blog link.

In addition to attempting to profit from the trading cards, they've come up with the idea of selling achievements. That is a strategy designed to profit from gullible people who want big numbers on their profile page.

My opinion, based on what I see here, is that the product being sold is not a bundle of games. The games have gotten almost universal negative reviews. The bundle is a scheme to exploit the trading cards >and< the new exploit of using the bait of 2000 achievements to lure naive gamers into buying the package.

The game isn't even all that bad, it's a shame they had to pollute it with so many achievements you get just for jumping

It was their choice. Apparently it did not do well so they sold out to the give-aways and came up with their "sell achievement" bait.

They paid the price -- Steam yanked all of their games from the store.

Thank Goodness

Steam needs to start looking at and approving/disapproving achievement lists in my opinion, like they do with trading cards. If the developer wants any change to the achievements they should have to go through Valve first. :azriel:

ill take the cards

I did too but I feel guilty -- I'm contributing to the profitability of the dev's scheme.

It would have been better if the scheme did not work in the first place. I'm a bit surprised that the cards are still marketable the last time I checked. With digital homicide, the cards could no longer be sold -- the only use was collecting or converting to gems.

Interesting. I activated my IG key for Torch Cave 2 and it randomly threw in Sleengster, Sleengster 2, Rage Parking Simulator 2016 and Barclay: The Marrowdale Murder.

I don't really understand why either, but unlike the OP I'm not gonna complain about the evil business practices of giving me lots of free games. ;)

Edit: Oh, and the games do seem to all be on the Steam store now, so maybe it was just a temporary thing.
Some of the IG games _were_ permanently yanked from the store so it can happen, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
