Hey. Try using the shovel behind the old hunter's house. It's free & doesn't break. Have a chance to stun. If your tinkering skill is good you can make a knuckle duster. Svans something or quality knuck.. The former requires melee weapon skill. The latter requires martial art. Check out the guide for recipes to make stuff. Get some levels before doing that quest. Just wander a bit around the village killing rats, wasps & bandits. Good luck.

Near the other exit of the village of Ottradonye. There is a corn field behind it. If your survival skill is 35% & above you can try to find the dog encounter. Just travel around a bit on the map. Once you get it make sure its owner dies in the encounter from bandit attack. You'll need its collar to tame it. Should you succeed then you'll have a dog companion. Same as Dogmeat in Fallout.
