I've seen some dragons to CG and it's just... well... ugly .-.
Voice acters would be nice, but we don't really know how the characters would sound .-.
CGI is easier for a small dev team to tackle. Conventional animation is extreemly labour intencive since it takes hours to draw each frame then multiply that by 24 frames per second. It would be hundreds of thousands of hours drawing! This is why the characters currently seem to scoot off the sides of the screen and reactions are only 1 frame.
Voice acting could make a nice audio-book out of this story later, too.
I may have decided to try a scene myself, maybe not with the best choice of voice for Remy, but oh well. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2uwdcnwt884md7f/Remy%20Monologue%20Take%201.mp4?dl=0
Anyhow, spoilers for Remy's third date within. Maybe one day I can try it again with a more professional setup (and avoid having those little space bar taps and mouse clicks be audible)
Wow... I took a listen to your attempt and... wow I was blown away! Your voice actually fits Remy's character to the tea, and you managed to convey the emotions perfectly... My feels had been successfully destroyed for the 20th time listening to his heart-breaking story... just wants to hug and cheer up the adorable white dragon even more!
I can see the point you're making, adine but you can take into consideration different material work and special toony shaders if you want to keep the style of the characters simplistic enough that they'd look cute either way, but working on it so it looks good whichever way doesn't sem far fetched in this year with the amount of flexibility substance painter and designer have.
Sorry for also reviving this topic but hey, i feel like this might have a chance if the right people went to work at it!
