In fact one character we really don't hear much talk about is Katsuharu. Vara at least usually gets mentioned with Remy.
I would also die to protect Remy, Adine, Lorem, and Sebastian.
And what I found really odd is that Vara isn't even mentioned in the aftermath. I found that really weird/sad/found Remy a bit of a jerk because of that (thouh I still like him a lot).
You find the poor thing holed up in a cave attempting to take care of her mother’s corpse, not understanding that she is dead. She also never speaks, and that may be because she is just shy, or something happened in her past that traumatized her and she just will not speak.
Also, Remy’s good ending. Let’s not look over the fact that the poor excuse for a human Reza shot and killed a *child* let alone an adult, Remy found something in his life that gave him meaning, and it’s ripped away from him in front of his eyes.
Remy does move on from it, but to be honest I don’t think that’s him being an ass more than it’s just... not good writing. With how he is characterized throughout the game, he would not move on that quickly past the first thing he discovered that gave him purpose and meaning in life, that pain would be there for much, much longer. That line should’ve been phrased much differently to reflect that vara’s death affected him greatly and he is deeply hurt by it, but he understands that he must move on.
But he was also very clearly, at least to me, dying inside. And the hope that the player could undo it all and save everyone since, if I recall correctly, the player had mentioned this fact to him at that time.
In other words, he's also holding onto hope that the player can undo Vara's death entirely.
When I first read his dialogue, I had to stop and reread it again because the way Remy spoke gave me the impression that he was completely over Vara’s death. He was like “Yea, it’s tragic Vara died, but oh well I have Adine and Amely!” and to me that is OOC for him as I explained in my original post.
I do have to say though that this is the only dialogue from any of the dragonic characters that doesn’t seem right to me, the rest is spot on and that’s why I love this game so much
That being said, Remy's behavior isn't as unrealistic as it might seem - there are real people that seem to spring back after loss when they're hurting inside like that, because the way they cope is to keep moving forward. And you're the one that helps Remy become that kind of person.
There's no one right way to grieve.
And very true. It just seemed unrealistic to me because I was remy’s *exact* situation, and after I lost the thing that gave me that joy and purpose in life I appeared fine to others, but when I went to the one I confined in I completely lost it, and therefore I expected Remy to as well when he spoke to us. But that is the beauty of a work of fiction: similar enough to be able to connect with, but different enough that it’s able to tell their own story and give you a different view on something that you may not have seen before.
In Remy's Good Ending the Dragons use the generators to stop the comet so chances are the prologue conversation happens after when the comet would have hit.
Also of note is he says that he and Adine are getting along well so he might have had that breakdown with Adine since your character was in a coma. Part of how you help him is having him realise he's not alone, and not just you, Adine wants to help him as well.
