How much do people actually like and/or care for Vara?
I don't know why but out of all of the characters we can meet, Vara is one of the ones that I care about most. Despite the fact that she never says a word and is only around for about a minute, it is easy to feel sorry for her.
Because of that, I think that Remy's "good" ending was more sad than some of the bad endings (Not naming any so people don't get mad).

Almost forgot to say that the reason I'm doing this is because I haven't seen many people taliking about Vara all that much.
I just want to know what other people think about her.

I honestly can't go through the story now without trying to help her and besides I kind of thought she was just really shy and I wanted to have her open her up to me. :3

I do care about Vara but in remy's good ending also gave me a reason why I kinda hate remy for it, sure the MC should step in to take the shot for her but remy sends YOU out of his own shame. if i'm wrong i'll play the "good" ending again to see what I missed.

With Vara we pretty much know most of what happens to her and why she does what she does, there's not really much of a discussion to go on about her for people to talk about her much.

In fact one character we really don't hear much talk about is Katsuharu. Vara at least usually gets mentioned with Remy.

I don't really care for Vara. Sorry :awswvara:

I would die to protect her and Amely both.

I would also die to protect Remy, Adine, Lorem, and Sebastian.

Yes. Remy's good ending is the saddest for me as well because of Vara.
And what I found really odd is that Vara isn't even mentioned in the aftermath. I found that really weird/sad/found Remy a bit of a jerk because of that (thouh I still like him a lot).

I'm certain he does mention Vara, something along the lines of saying "how sad it was that happened to Vara" but I can't remember the exact quote.

I personally cared for Vara just because of her situation.

You find the poor thing holed up in a cave attempting to take care of her mother’s corpse, not understanding that she is dead. She also never speaks, and that may be because she is just shy, or something happened in her past that traumatized her and she just will not speak.

Also, Remy’s good ending. Let’s not look over the fact that the poor excuse for a human Reza shot and killed a *child* let alone an adult, Remy found something in his life that gave him meaning, and it’s ripped away from him in front of his eyes.

Remy does move on from it, but to be honest I don’t think that’s him being an ass more than it’s just... not good writing. With how he is characterized throughout the game, he would not move on that quickly past the first thing he discovered that gave him purpose and meaning in life, that pain would be there for much, much longer. That line should’ve been phrased much differently to reflect that vara’s death affected him greatly and he is deeply hurt by it, but he understands that he must move on.

I don't think the writing was bad at all. I actually got the impression that Remy was still carrying his pain in his heart, he was just strong enough thanks to the player that he could keep walking forward - after all, there was still the other children at the orphanage to take care of, not to mention he could help Adine with Amely.

But he was also very clearly, at least to me, dying inside. And the hope that the player could undo it all and save everyone since, if I recall correctly, the player had mentioned this fact to him at that time.

In other words, he's also holding onto hope that the player can undo Vara's death entirely.

I would have to replay the ending to make sure, but when I played it I did not get the impression he was hurting after Vara’s death. Up to that point I could clearly see him hurting and alone after he revealed it to you, and once I saw the art of him crying over Vara’s body I thought he would be utterly broken after that, but he wasn’t.

When I first read his dialogue, I had to stop and reread it again because the way Remy spoke gave me the impression that he was completely over Vara’s death. He was like “Yea, it’s tragic Vara died, but oh well I have Adine and Amely!” and to me that is OOC for him as I explained in my original post.

I do have to say though that this is the only dialogue from any of the dragonic characters that doesn’t seem right to me, the rest is spot on and that’s why I love this game so much :steamhappy:

If it helps, I remember an indeterminate amount of time passing after the ending, which would give him enough time to reach where he is.

That being said, Remy's behavior isn't as unrealistic as it might seem - there are real people that seem to spring back after loss when they're hurting inside like that, because the way they cope is to keep moving forward. And you're the one that helps Remy become that kind of person.

There's no one right way to grieve.

See, that’s what I couldn’t remember. I was fairly certain there was a time gap between the events, but considering the comet hits only a few weeks or so after the ending it couldn’t be too long before you see the convo.

And very true. It just seemed unrealistic to me because I was remy’s *exact* situation, and after I lost the thing that gave me that joy and purpose in life I appeared fine to others, but when I went to the one I confined in I completely lost it, and therefore I expected Remy to as well when he spoke to us. But that is the beauty of a work of fiction: similar enough to be able to connect with, but different enough that it’s able to tell their own story and give you a different view on something that you may not have seen before.

In Remy's Good Ending the Dragons use the generators to stop the comet so chances are the prologue conversation happens after when the comet would have hit.

Also of note is he says that he and Adine are getting along well so he might have had that breakdown with Adine since your character was in a coma. Part of how you help him is having him realise he's not alone, and not just you, Adine wants to help him as well.

Ah, yes. They may have formed a bond quickly to enable that to happen
Rolan Culdis 14 Apr, 2018 @ 8:54am
Though they probably had a sort of bond before, Remy and Adine knew each other and were friends way back before you were ever in the Dragon World, you just helped Remy to get over avoiding her.
