You may want to try reading some of this stuff out loud before making corrections.
All I did this whole time was try to find ways to contact you so you could talk to our people and figure something out for me. Why would I escalate the situation like that?
There is nothing wrong with what Reza said here.
For your correction to even be correct, it would have to be like this:
All this time, I have been trying to find ways to contact you so you could talk to our people and figure something out for me. Why would I escalate the situation like that?
Both pretty much mean the same thing.
At first I wasn't sure why so I decided to read a little bit to find out why, and I can see now why I made my mistake. Word `was` threw me off a little bit. I'm used to seeing `was` when using past continuous, but this is not the case here.
I believe that this is the same reason why After The Deadline caught this as a mistake.
Anyway, I'm removing it right now.
