You know when you see red dots on the screen but can't see what kind of ship it is? Thats what the AI "sees". They go by order of priority where identified ships gain higher priority.

AI can see your invisible ships, but it will generally pretend not to unless all your ships are invisible. Though it will still happily use sensor pings to reveal them.

But you can make the AI run in circles by selectively stealthing ships. They will happily ignore stealthed ships shooting them to run after the visible ones.
