Failed to initialize profile
OK, haven't played Trailmakers for about a year, tried logging on just now, and I keep getting a connection error "Failed to initialize profile", and it wont let me connect. I can play offline in safemode, but whats the point, lol.

I am running windows 10, high-end up to date PC, all my drivers are up, no hardware issues. Its NOT my firewall, I have allowed it thru, and also port forward is ok.

Restarting Steam, restarting PC, lame suggestions which never work, but I did this anyway, didnt help. Verified integrity of game files, didnt help.

My brother has a seperate steam account, different PC, he is getting the same error. So maybe its the game servers? I searched online, didnt see anything saying Trailmakers was having issues.

Anyone help please, thanks.

it seems like it's a backend issue since there is an unusually high amount of people reporting it

Yea too, impossible to connect, its since the decals MAJ because ive never encounter this conexion issues before so ..

been trying on and off for a few hours now. was wondering if it was a backend issue

Just check again, whatever was wrong has gone away. Log in just fine now. Nothing changed on my end, so I have no idea what the fix was.

Still running into this issue as of September 5th. Setting Steam to Offline mode doesn't seem to help either, the game still spends several minutes trying to connect to servers only to eventually fail and ask if you want to retry or play offline, so I'm guessing something needs patched

the issue was fixed last week, but it reappeared on friday night. It should be fixed now again (at least temporarily, there seems to be a deeper issue causing the backend to partially fail during peak player counts which might take longer to figure out and fix)

yea they still haven't fixed it in May of 2025

they did in fact fix it. What you are seeing is unrelated. It's a generic error message and as a result can be caused by many different things
