Akara's attitude in the end does not make sense
"And I'm not favor of preventing deaths."
In the end, Akara acts this way independently of our choice. This is broken and no make sense.

If Donovan tells Akara to let anything except for murder and suicide happen, and even rejects the torturer, Akara promises to do as Donovan told, but still gets Brandeis killed.

Maybe an alternative route at the end was missing to solve this contradiction? A route where Brandeis does not die. In my opinion, this would be an interesting twist because of the initial scene that leaves us full of expectations as to his death.

Guys, the creator of the game Jordi de Paco answered me via twitter, he was very nice and did not see it as an attack.

He said: "There is an easy explanation for this: Bad narrative design. My mistake, didn't have this in mind when I wrote each part. 😑"
My source: https://twitter.com/castilianus/status/1147801193630044160

He was very sincere, these mistakes happen. Perhaps in the future he will post some update that corrects this dialogue or modify/add even the narrative, if it is his will.

Yea, I was a little miffed at that bit in the ending where she she turns all "evil" and just allows him to be shot by the corp enforcers, but I guess they kind of had to end it that way with how they did the opening hook? It's still sloppy writing at the climax of an otherwise amazing game.

I think it would be fake flashforward, where Akara would have seen it, but Donovan's actions would have changed everything.

I believe Donovon was telling Akara how to behave if she ever took control of the neural network, right? At the point in the game where she kills Brandeis, Akara isn’t yet in control of the network, so Donovon’s directive doesn’t apply yet either.

(I know the dev called this a plot hole, but I think above also makes sense?)

Hey @Not-So-Serius Sam, what you said really makes sense. When I play again, I'll keep an eye on that perspective! Thank you! :lovebubble:

Well, I see it that way: When she controlls the algorithm she sets the controlls to no suicide, no murder. And then the people act like it. In case of Brandeis or Ariadne she would have to come up with different solutions for the situations and act as herself/as android to prevent their deaths.
So she doesn't want to influence directly the situation but has no problems to do so indirectly.

This is from 6 years later but you have just saved me from insomnia on a weekday 😭😭 I mean in no good conscience would I choose to tell Akara to prevent the murder from happening but the ending got me so heartbroken, and I started the second run right away just to see if I can fk the world up to save Brandeis, only to find out that there’s only one ending to the game 😭😭
So turns out it was just a mistake, and this suddenly got me out of the tragedy’s grip. Now imma lie on bed and lie to myself that there’s another ending to this 😤😤

Yeah, sadly they never changed that with an update/patch or something, right?

But I love this game, it's still one of my favorites, mainly because of how humble the devs were in dealing with it.
